there is no ps2 mod chip. the picture is a psone modchip. so far every attempt at a ps2 modchip has ended in failure.

dont steal video games.. the publishers etc. deserve the money.. and you do not need free games.

if you want to play japanese games though.. just buy the japanese ps2.. its only 200 now.. if you get a steady paycheck you should be able to afford that.

i believe if you buy a gameshark it allows you to play region free DVD's and Japanese Imports. Also it will allow you to play copies of PS2 games. Which isn't just for stolen copies. You can make copies of your own games and play those so you don't have to worry about scratching and ruining your 50 dollar games. You got the real ones safely in their DVD cases.

only a retard can scratch a game while conducting the simple maneuver of taking it out of its case and placing it in the ps2.

    ok, here's my 2 cents:

    1. PS2 modchips *DO* work.
    2. a dvd burner is needed to burn alot of the larger games.
    3. the smaller games that are on a cd format can be burned with a "patch" so that no modchip is needed.
    4. pre modded ps2's are available.
    5. off topic, but so, GCN games are going to be stupid hard to pirate because of the size of the discs... good thinking on Nintendo's part.

actually some ps2s scratch your games all on their own. i stuck my gta3 in the ps2 and played it for hours, took it out, looked at it and saw lots of little scratches, nothing deep, nothing serious but maybe theyll acumulate(sp?), cant get it fixed for free cuz i dont know where the ps2 came from, it was a present so it couldve been used, discounted for some reason or stolen for all i know. thats why i want to learn about mod chips and altering my dvd drive to burn dvds.
