"Oh Man, I Feel Like Such A Tool"....Bad Work Uniforms

    Discussion started by $360 - Jul 17, 2003

so i started this job last week because im flat broke. there is no way in hell i would usually work at this place because its a cooperate resteraunt, and everone there is a fucking tool(why yes, that IS my new favorite word). but the fact is that the economy sucks ass, and i dont have much choice but to take the first job that comes my way. i knew from the begining that the uniforms were a bitch and taht i wouldnt look good in it, but it was worse than i thought once i accually put it on.

To start, i have to wear white sneakers taht have good traction:

if there is a spot on the shoes that arnt white, they wont let you start youre shift until youve sat in the office and made the spot white with a white out pen.

next, i have to wear white pants, which, are impossible to find. the only ones i could find were at filenes for $65.00!!!!!what the fuck?????
    [img]http://www.oreficeltd.com/images/pants/white-pants.jpg'>

they are dry clean only. i spend $8.00 after every shift to make sure they are clean, otherwise they wont let me on the floor.

next i have my apron, white as well. i couldnt find a pic of a white apron, so youre going to have to use youre imagination. its the same as this black one, only, well, white.

for a shirt, i have to wear a white long sleve button down shirt. also, way to expensive:

and finally, my only form of expression in this hell hole, my tie. you can wear just about any tie you want as long as its not "innapropiate". i decided, just to be obnoxious, to get a straight black tie:

please someone tell me youve had worse things to wear at work. i need some comfort about this right now.

yeah, I rock the monkey suit too homie.
Sounds like you got a job at Johnny Rockets!
lolz..thats the only restaurant I can think
of that is that strict. You know what though.
You could have saved some $$$ if you went
and bought yourself some Dickies. Them
shits come in solid white, and run for $16.00
a pair. The best thing...you can pass them off
as work pants! Why? Cuzz thats what they are!
Theyre comfy too. You dont have to dry clean them
either. I work in an office, and I sport dickies.
At first I had dockers..but those fuckin suck.
Then I made a lil switch to dickies, my boss
doesnt even trip...so, I bought a few more
    pairs. Buy you some potna!

in the USA it is $5.15 an hour.

it is not a local issue.

oh and by the way $360,

one thing your employer wont tell you is that legally you do not have to share tips with the dishwashers. also, and this is a big one..
if your hourly wage plus tips does not equal at least minimum wage..your employer must make up the difference.
