defyoner
personally, i think nintendo made the biggest mistake with this DS unit. Especially seeing as though sony has its psp right around the corner, and well out in japan, and in a few lucky american's hands. (me being one of them). the way i put them against eachother is.. handheld N64 with a second screen. VS. Hand Held PS2. --PSP-- ------ --DS-- ------ +++Ridge Racer PSP+++ -- +++Ridge Racer DS+++ ******************************************** i think nintedo made one of its last bad decisions. iloveboxcars
they both have different qualities that make them worthy of purchase, it just depends on what kind of games you want to play.
defyoner
i can agree with you there.. im not a sony fan boy. i do own an SNES, and a GBA SP.. i just think that the DS was a waste of time seeing as though nintendo has said, "This is not the next gameboy, it is just a side project." having played the ds, its bulky, small screens, poor resolution, and dropped with 8 titles. Quoted post or it might have been buying into the Seattle Mariners. My last biggest mistake was buying a Mariner's hat that is one size to small last night. I think the DS looks nice, but I don't see the point of using the touch screen/stylus too much. For instance, I read that for Madden 2005, you can use them to pick plays, which is cool. But you also have to use the stylus as some sort of joystick, which just seems awkward and unnatural.
JohnnyHorton
DS has built in wireless communication fool sure DS might not be the best thing for young adults (as the PSP is more appealing to the older "kids") but its going to rule for kids... think about it if 5 kids have these they can talk in class (if they're smart about it) with an AIM like feature, they can play pokemon\yugi oh\whatever together at the same time wirelessly at recess\lunch\whatever DS = for the kids PSP = for the older kids
defyoner
they had good ideas behind the DS.. but the over all project in my eyes was a bad idea. the IM thing is an awesome idea.. but its kinda hard to be "slick" about it when the things the size of a motorola cell phone from 1986. if they were to revamp the GBA SP. with a touch screen, and the IM feature.. and the graphically advanced games of the DS. then i think it would have been a huge hit. theres a huge size factor.. the psp, yes its big, its not thick.. its just big lenghwise.. but theres also a 4.3" screen thats displaying 16.7 million colors.. while the DS is the same size.. and thicker than the psp.. but its sporting the 2.4" screens.. which are displaying about 65k colors.. or maybe its 256k colors. bottom line.. ds should have not been DS.. but a revamped SP. its rediculous in size, interms of the unit/screen ratio. Carl Winslow.
i gotta go with sony psp. i mean, nintendo is always doing some goofy shit. the little pen you use on the bottom screen like it's a palm pilot or some shit. interesting concept but seems a little too bulky. i used to be nintendo-only from the original NES, Super NES, and N64. But after that I got tired of the cute kiddy games, and was mad that Playstation had all the dope games. so when PS2 dropped i got that. sony pretty much dominates the console genre, and nintendo is no longer #1 there. but nintendo does dominate the handheld genre and i'm guessing sony's goal is to knock nintendo from the top there too. defyoner
so... bragging rights are mine. mc phoo - they are dropping in price every day.. on the 12th they were up to $1200 on ebay.. retail they are $250 for the standard pack (psp, battery, charger) and about $300 for the value pack (psp, battery, charger, case, headphones, wrist strap, memory stick). you can get them on ebay with Ridge Racers overnight shipped for about $475 and lower if you haggle the sellers through email. i ended up paying $375. value pack, ridge racers, shipped. so i got the guy to go all the way down to retail.
