I dont see how those rallies (sp?) actually make any change. I mean its great to speak your mind, but what do you hope to accomplish with this rally? The people there already are against hate and oppression, so speaking to them over a mic about being against hate is kinda redundant right?

haha, mapo. maybe you should go to one sometime. it's not like all they do is get on a microphone and list the things they hate and everyone shakes their head in agreement. it's a way to get organized. it's a way to peacefully raise your voice. it's a way to learn more about your cause and the effects. usually they have well known speakers come and talk for inspiration. maybe some bands to come play or something. it's out on a campus, so that means people walking by might stop in and see it. someone might see a flier and be interested in what it's all about. sometimes people set up stands where you can make donations to support different organizations. people pass out a lot of literature. if nothing else it's just a positive reason to come together and meet new people on the same page.

Thank you Tow Up. Heads on here don't really see the importance. If it weren't for what we did here at Penn State last spring, Penn State wouldn't have any diversity program to speak of. This year, we're making it a national deal, because we discovered that campuses around the country were having the same stuff happen. We've been getting national press. Newsweek, BET, CNN, USA today and a bunch of other networks and stuff have covered this story. I know there's a bunch of people on here who aren't white middle americans. Y'all should be concerned. Fight for yourself, don't just live in apathy cause thats how you grew up. DO SOMETHING. Nahmean?

beautiful.. and u definitely need to address the diversity at places like PSU.

PSU is like 12oz.. u got a whole lot of these middle class white americans and then u have some minorities.
