As you likely know from my New Orleans bachelor party and wedding photo threads, I got married recently. We went to Greece on our honeymoon. 56kers beware. This thread has a bajillion pictures.

The thread's official song for no reason whatsoever: Macho Man Randy Savage - Remember Me?

Our cabdriver's hair after arriving in Athens. I truly believe the man was
an old F1 racecar driver who had fallen on hard times and refused to get
haircuts, but still insisted on driving as fast as humanly possible.

    Ditto.

    of the National Gardens.

The National Gardens. It looks empty because it was - as was the entire
city. We were there during a national holiday, where everyone leaves
the city and goes elsewhere, usually the coast.

We had continually heard about how bad the traffic was in Athens, but we
didn't see any of it. Moral of the story? Visit Athens in August.

On Serifos (click for location on map). When we first arrived we were
told that the reservations we had made had been cancelled, or
they had never received the confirmation, or they were idiots -
    something of the sort.

As a result, we were only able to stay one night at the place where I had
actually made reservations. The other two nights, the first and the third,
we had to stay at a much cheaper hotel owned by the same comapny -
Hotel Beach Serifos, which is, despite its name, located about 50m from
    the beach down an alleyway.

The picture is the woman waiting to find out if we even have a place
    to stay. She's happy.

Just to the left, we have the beautiful view the first floor of the hotel
enjoys: a dirt parking lot and wooden pallets.

The big screen in our room.

Hotel Beach Serifos goes hard with the interior decor.

I told the front desk guy, "there aren't any sheets on the bed."

    He replied, "yes there are."

    Hm.

The woman reading up on what the menu offers. Over her shoulder,
random Greek man pissed because he's in my picture.

Here's a small tidbit in case any of you reading this should travel to the
Greek islands: be prepared to wait at restaurants. You may sit down
and not have a waiter come over to your table for 15 minutes. It may
take 45 for all of your food to come out. It may take 15 minutes to get
the bill after you've asked for it.

This has nothing to do with being American or not speaking Greek - it's
just standard operating procedure there. "Siga-siga" is the term, which
means "slowly." It's just how things are.

We were glad we knew about siga-siga in advance, or else we would
have thought we were being treated like shit. By the end of the trip, we
actually appreciated being able to sit and relax and not feel pressured to
pay quickly and run out the door.

    Burning man.

The view from our room in Hotel Beach Serifos - not too shabby.

    The other direction.

Okay. We could deal with the rock-hard beds and the fact that all the
electricity in your room turned off whenever you left and the sandpaper
    towels.

But the bathroom. Oh, the bathroom.

Note the strange window looking thing in the middle of the photo. What's
on the other side? Our neighbors bathroom.

    Hi! I'm naked!

The wonder that was our bathroom:
+ no shower curtain, so you had to always spray the water towards the
corner, or else you'd soak everything in the room.
+ sewers/septic tanks that couldn't handle TP, so the small trashcan in
front of the toilet was full of poop paper.
+ feet in the shower when on the toilet.
+ the weird window into our neighbors bathroom, as mentioned above.

Further note there's a poop stain in the toilet. I blame the woman.

Looking up the strange window/hole in the bathroom. By the way, I
asked our resident Greek, Tesser, about the hole, and he had no idea
    what it was.

    My glasses enjoyed themselves there.

I just stand around like that and flex and stuff.

An Amstel (cheaper than Coke!) and wine and a Greek salad. Say we
ate 20 lunches and dinners while in Greece. I'd estimate that we had a
Greek salad at 15 of them.

That huge chunk of feta on top of the salad has already had about a
third of it removed, as it's served in a 4" by 3" chunk. And good lord is
    it delicious.

    Siga-siga'ing.

A good view of the main city on the island, Livadi. The entire island is
only about 40 square miles, with a permanent population of around
    1000.

Much to the displeasure of Tesseract, we remained in Livadi all three
days. But without any mode of transportation, no taxis, and no public
bus system, it was tough to get anywhere else.

    Mmm. Assos.

Ahh. The view from the balcony of the hotel we were supposed to have
stayed in all three nights - Hotel Asteri. Instead, we only stayed there
    the second of three nights.

From the balcony of our room. Most restaurants had their kitchen in
buildings across the street from the water, while the tables were as close
    to the waves as possible.

    Hi.

The hill we thought about climbing, but never did.

Okay, we never seriously thought about climbing it. I mean, it's high and shit.

    Clearly bluffing.

Look at her tits. No, seriously. Enlarge the picture.

View from the port, where we were waiting for our ferry to Milos.

Which we missed. Because we don't speak Greek.

We got to the port an hour early, as we had to check out of our hotel by
    12. We sat there with a growing crowd and, following their lead, stood
up and got in line when our ferry arrived.

The port worker started yelling something in Greek. One couple walked
over to him and boarded our ferry. No one else (out of 200 or so)
moved. Then our ferry left ...

... seconds later, another ferry arrived and the crowd let out an audible
sigh of relief. At last, their ferry was here! And our's was 50 feet away!

    Dammit.

So we bought two more tickets, but the next ferry wasn't arriving for 6
hours. So, after grabbing a bite to eat, we sat on the steps of the police
station and played cards, as it was the only place we could find with free shade.

    Finally aboard the ferry.

Wow. This is the view from our balcony in Milos.

Milos (click for map) is a lot larger and more developed than Serifos,
with larger crowds and much more to do. With that said,
our hotel was about a 15 minute cab ride from the island's
main port, which provided for a secluded atmosphere.

A bee kept bothering us during our meal, so we lured him in with
honey and captured the little bastid.

We held him in there for the remainder of breakfast, then released him.

It took about 15 minutes for him to get out of the honey, all the
while I laughed and spit and yelled curse words at him.

The beach directly below our hotel. This picture was taken around 9:30 am,
before anyone had arrived. By 1 pm, all of the chairs were full.

Greek cops pretending to be statues.

This poster was everywhere on Milos. I have no idea who or what it is,
but I wish I could have attended/watched whatever it's advertising.

    This is actually Tesseract.

    Smug bastard.

For our last full day on the islands, we took a 9 hour boat tour around Milos.

I probably took about 50 photos of rocks and water and landscapes and
crap while on the boat tour, so I've done my best to narrow it down to a
    select few.

Rocks and water and landscapes and crap.

Sitting right next to us on the boat was a couple a little younger than
us. As soon as the boat left, they began making out. Hardcore. And it
never stopped. I had to document.

"Ohmigawd, I love you so much .."

    "No, I love you!"

"Please kiss me on my stupid face."

"Oh, it's cool, no one's around - they won't mind."

(Which apparently is actually true. The woman asked some dude
whether it was normal for people to have such crazy PDA, and he said it
was. I still don't understand WHY THEY DIDN'T CHANGE THEIR BEHAVIOR
TO AMERICAN NORMS! I mean, HELLO?! We're AMERICAN!)

The woman loved the motion of the ocean.

Rocks and water and landscapes and crap.

The boat made 3 stops for everyone to swim, and 2 of the spots were
only accessible by boat. This is the woman's attempt at capturing me
    mid-air.

I'm the insanely white one. Hi.

    John Belushi was there.

Fuck, I want to be back there.

Dad forgetting his swimsuit is still no excuse to borrow his 6-year old son's.

    OMG 12oz.

Yes, yes, they're still at it.

Rocks and water and landscapes and crap.

Right after I took the previous shot, I held the camera over my head
and took this picture. People were excited about the rocks and water
    and landscapes and crap.

    Posing like fucking idiots.

Our first ship sunk, so we quickly boarded another.

People on and in the rocks and water and landscapes and crap.

Check out the dude diving from the front of the church. Pretty sweet.

Pops went all out and got us an awesome hotel room for our night in
London, as I left him in charge of finding us a place to stay there.

The hotel was literally across the street from Hyde Park. We'd have loved to
have been able to stay and explore, but we had very little time there -
checked in around 6 pm, ate dinner at a local Thai restaurant, slept, ate
breakfast, and left by 10:30 am.
