AARON BURR

burr2.jpg

Burr did not run with Jefferson in the 1804 election. Instead he ran for the governorship of New York. Alexander Hamilton had opposed Burr's aspirations for the vice-presidency in 1792, and had exerted influence through Washington to prevent his appointment as brigadier-general in 1798, at the time of the threatened war between the United States and France. Alexander Hamilton, his old rival, made insulting comments about him in advance of the governor's race, which led, in large part, to Burr's lack of success in his run for the state house; moreover the two had long been rivals at the bar.

Burr responded with a challenge to a duel. On July 11, 1804, Aaron Burr shot and fatally wounded Hamilton in their duel in Weehawken, New Jersey. The bullet entered Hamilton below the chest, and he died the following day. Burr was later charged with murder in two states but never tried in either jurisdiction. He escaped to South Carolina, then returned to Washington D.C. and completed his term of service as Vice President.

Possibly one of the most influential "leaders" of all time. I put that in quotes because if my memory serves me correct, dude never held office in india. His beliefs spread through the post WW2 colonized world. All those colonized country/regions like India, Africa, Europe.. .

So many people believed in this guys peaceful protesting. One being MLK JR who actually flew to india to meet him. Dudes teachings are still practiced today.

I have a feeling a lot of you dont know the extent of power this dude had in history.

There are some bad ass bitches in this thread.

Marcos is a top notch muthafucka. Cat got a masters degree in philosophy, was a teacher at a university, and now a prominent figure in revolutionary activists within Mexico. And he's a mean bitch if he gotta be.

George Patton, another take-no-shit-from-noone type dude. Was fuckin soldiers up in their own shit since early 1900's. Made General after about 38 highly decorated and distinguished years. Sadly, he died mere months after he made General. He thought he was the reincarnation of Carthaginian General Hannibal (who was fuckin kick-ass, until Scipio defeated him), among others.

Not much needs to be said of Hitler, Lenin, and Stalin. Read a general history book.

Mussolini was pimpin propaganda to the fullest. Fascist dictatorship never looked so good (or bad).

This thread is one of the better threads i've seen in a while.
