Morpheus Attacked & Morpheus Upgrades? Thoughts

A couple days ago Zack Morris mentioned something about his morpheus not being able to connect because his software was old. I could still dload. Yet tonight it said my program was too old to connect. Only like 80 heads were connected tonight. It wanted me to dload the new "Preview" program. I'm skeptical. Then it has this message on their site. Anyone using the new one? Any comments about it?

This week MusicCity and Morpheus users suffered dual attacks. First, early this week MusicCity's servers were hit by a massive Denial of Service attack. Soon thereafter, Morpheus users found that a separate attack had been launched on their computers and their Morpheus software programs.

It appears that the attacks included an encrypted message being repeatedly sent directly to your computers that changed registry settings in your computer. Later, it appears our ad servers were attacked resulting in messages being sent to other sites without our knowledge, which threatened our most basic revenue model. We believe some of these attacks continue as Morpheus users attempt to connect to the old Morpheus User Network. This was why it is important to quickly deploy our new software product.

This unprovoked attack is being carefully investigated, as it appears that federal laws may have been violated. We are still attempting to discover who would want to eliminate the community of millions of consumers who are using the Morpheus software product to connect with other users around the world.

These attacks have forced us to more quickly deploy our new software product in order to allow you to bring the largest p2p community back together. Since it appears that the attack on your computers came from the closed proprietary FastTrack-Kazaa software, we have opted not to continue with this p2p kernel. We believe it to have the ability to access your computer at will and change registry settings. In addition, we remain committed to NOT bundling any spy ware with our product.

We are pleased to migrate to an open Protocol product with the release of Morpheus Preview Edition, which is based on the very large network of Gnutella users. The new software will provide you with the ability for faster searches, the display of more search results, and many more new and exciting features. KEEP IN MIND that this is only our preview edition. Any time change occurs, many object and think the old version was better. Our objective is to create a new and exciting software product. Since our company and your p2p network are being attacked, we would appreciate your constructive comments for improvement, not simply criticisms. With you help and input, we will continue to provide the pre-eminent p2p software product in the world.

Lastly, we want to address some of the misinformation we've seen recently. There have been many comments that we caused these problems intentionally. Let me assure you that we would NEVER treat the Morpheus users in this fashion. Others have said we would re-launch with a paid subscription model, again, not true. Our commitment is to always provide you a free version of the Morpheus software product. Thanks again for making Morpheus the most widely downloaded p2p product in the world. We are hard at work to provide you with the products you have come to expect from our company. From our perspective p2p means people to people.

morpheus doesn't work so i got Kazaa and it works wonders

Hue Jass, i've been using Kazaa for a few months and two weeks ago i recieved a virus or some sort of shit that was basically described above.........i managed to save all my important files thru some miracle.......but i still had to reformat my harddrive and start over again. I wouldn't recommend using any download software right now. Except winmx. i haven't heard anything or anybody getting that many viruses from winmx. But then again winmx completely blows compared to kazaa or morpheus.

i also have kazaa. i got alot of porn and music. you really cant get any better then that.

Direct Connect is the program-not always easy to use but it is very good and way way way way better thn Kazaa or Morpheus. You can all thank me later.

this is why i deleted morpheous and kazaa months ago. i knew it was too good to be true.

ur a dumb ass they are the same thing just diff clients but the network is the same so morpheus and kazaa users are on the same server

i just downloaded and am running the new morpheus software as we speak and I'm not digging it...it remnds me alot of another peer to peer program called limewire which is more of a program for people who know what they are doing due to all the information you can get through it and all the customiation to different servers nodes and things of that nature..I think morpheus made a mistake by making this information available for customization by people who really won't know what they are doing....plus I don't like the new layout..but after a weekw hen I am used to it that will probably change.

winMX does have more shit...but 99% of it won't download because it won't it won't queu(sp?) the person that I am trying to get my porn from.

the software is beyond terrible..its a crime against humanity. since this just the pre-release I am hoping that things will be better when the final release is made.

damn the new software blows, i wish they would just fix the old stuff. and is that kazaa or whatever even worth downloading

I agree, the new interface is beyond toy. Looks like that dead moose site posted a while back on here. Anyway, it doesn't work that good... just wait till they come out with the official edition.

OKAY , im getting angry i cant get onto the dl page to get the new software , even if it sucks .........my browser keeps saying gateway timeout , and the page just wont load , it been this way since it came out ........so yeah , anyone else having this problem .....and if it sucks so much , what do you all suggest

i just went and got Kazaa , it works the same as morph and i am pleased , however i cannot open my morpheus application at all now ........

i deleted morpheus last night. i'm liking audiogalaxy much better, even though it's just music. there was never software i was looking for on morpheus anyways.

now that I have no morpheus to use its becoming my best friend for porn and the such but keep in mind there are no where as many users on here.

lime wire is terrible , i had that along time ago , same with bearshare......terrible , get kazaa , really.

FUCK, I just dloaded the morpheus upgrade and it sucks. Can you even just straight up play mp3's on it? Cause when I do my musicmatchjukebox screen comes up and plays it on that. Is there anyway to organize my songs by artists and shit like on the old morpheus. I guess I'll check it out but thought if someone knew they might let me know. Is kazaa still like the old morpheus?
