ok just one question? how come alot of you guys on this board dont like war? what is wrong with people going too bootcamp? maybe its a waste of time to you, but to some people its what theyve dreamed about doing. so please dont critisize people and tell them their throwing their life away an wanting to join the service. if we didnt have a military how long do you think our country would last? how long do you think wed be free? you think NATO is going to protect us? look at the wonderful job they do now, enfocing that contract with iraq. shit the U.S. is who the NATO sends in first becuase we are the most powerful. without us they couldnt do shit.

While I'm not a scholar of communism (and certainly not an advocate .. I think the collapse of the USSR proved communism to be entirely unworkable), I think the US's involvement in organizations such as the UN is not aimed at any sort of world government. Much like any country (and most people, for that matter), the US is looking out for #1. They are (have?) used the UN as a means to influence the rest of the world to what they felt would be their advantage. Don't get me wrong .. I'm not knocking that - I think that any country that wants to succeed in the world economy must make every attempt to further their own agenda.

 

My beef is with the fact that the current White House feels they can pick and choose when to follow the dictates of an organization that they helped found. If they want to be in the UN, they should held accountable to the rules they helped devise. If they don't want to be, they should leave.

 

I know you're going to say, exactly .. they should leave. But .. bah.. I don't know anymore.
