Message Boards - web designers/formatters look <---

A client of mine wants to add a message board to there Web site, and I was curious to as to which route you think I should take. I'd like to use something I can easily customize with css.

The site is for a band, and the board will get anywhere from 50-500 members.

The host they use offers MySql and some other stuff that I don't know much about.

What do you use, or what have you built before?

Should I just go with phpbb?

css is fine....browsers have changed from a couple years ago...

phpbb is a good messageboard for free, simple uses...

it's a bit of a pain to customize..but once you dig into it and start understanding the template files...you can get it to look exactly the way you want...

i tweaked the shit outta phpbb for this site

there's like 3 main template files to edit if you wanna alter the table structure...but you can control the colors via the admin...and replace all the icons easily...
