The deal is that they were casting for a remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and they held casting calls to see who would be willing to play the characters. One such call was made to Manson and he soon-after told a new reporter that he might play the crazy inventor/chocolate-maker Wonka. But the producers found a more 'suitable' actor to play Wonka and Manson was left in the dust. Just for shits, they also made such a call to Tim Burton to see if he would be willing to direct it but that also fell through. Damn rumor mill, partly true but fails to tell the whole story. Devilush Posted May 28, 2002 Share Posted May 28, 2002 i love marilyn manson. i admit it. i watched him play early in high school with NIN and i was completely blown away. and ever since then, i have loved his music. it's dark, broody, and untypical. but as far as the rumore goes, i dont think it's true. highly doubt it. the closest thing that he has come to being willy wonka is his "portrait of an american family" where he has excerpts from the movie...especially the beginning.
