I'm not sure what I want, but I'm looking for a bike that I can ride about the city, hopefully not get stolen, and ride around some trails. Like I said earlier, I want it to ride mostly on paved roads/side walks but the occasional grassy/trail terrain. I would like something subtle but built for long rides. Price range: ~300$. Any help welcome, thanks.

How much would you say I should be looking to spend? I'm not going to run right out now, and buy one, but this is for the near future so I can save some more cash.

God use the search forum idiot... There is already a well established bike thread and this is the second time the subject has been covered in a new thread in under a month.

    god...
    get a road bike.
    check garage sales.
    old schwinns do the trick
and there are lots of them.
look for one that has a "schwinn-chicago"
sticker just under the seat. those are tight.
things are tanks, prolly wont get stolen
and can be found for like $50.

edit: look for varsity, collegiate, and continental models.
and if you dont mind a girls frame then you will definitely
not have a problem tripping over one at a garage sale.
