lets talk.

i read some peoples posts on here and i want to hit some of you in the back of the head. thank god i dont live in your cities. there's serveal things i wanna talk about/get out there in the open.

1. Your spot is unique..you might be lucky..you might not be.

before you diss anyone for anything they paint consider where they might be painting. i have so much respect for the guys who piece in hot yards. being in a position to paint and look over my shoulder at the same time i realise how hard it is to put up a piece. i see things that some guys do on freights that look like productions. i also know their spots are amazing. i've seen photos and heard first hand info. yes. those guys can rock. any one rocking freights like that gets my respect just because i could never pull off anything like that here. some of you bash pieces without thinking of their background. do you ever think when you see an unfinished piece...'i wonder what happened during that one?' i know i do. just today i had to bounce with the piece unfinished. i'm just asking you to check your ego at the door. you might have one spot you might have twenty. deal with it and dont brag...and consider what everyone else has.

2. You are not cool because you hit freights.

freights are a trend. i'm seeing more kids run to freights because bombing is becoming a harder deal to pull off. its not pushing everyone to freights and its certainly not the reason for the latest trend of freight train graffiti. yeah it might be getting harder to find panels. oh well. good rule of thumb...you got more colors? do you have more skill? do you know the person? chances are you could get aaway with going over them. 100% odds say if you completely cover their piece no one will even know. if that car passes the guy who hit it again 50/50 says he wont even notice he had hit that car before unless its uniquely marked. quit bitching about open panels...there's always a solution unless its a wholecar or e2e.

3. lighten the hell up.

Someone may get 1000's a year. so what? once again odd's are you arent the next big name. i appreciate you trying. hell i wish i got 3000 a year. who doesnt? just enjoy what you get. this particular point doesnt apply to too many of you..but as far as toys and stuff goes from blowing up your spots: fucking deal with it. what do you think people did back in the day? they dealt with it. kick that kids ass. tell him whats up. take his paint. do what you have to do to take care of it...as long as its not murdering someone. i've heard jokes about someone slicing someones neck and putting them in a boxcar to die. its a joke...but seriously...take care of your shit but hell..stay cool while doing it. graffiti may be your weekend life but you still got shit to do during the week. word to raildeviant for bringin this up.

4. one year wonders.

they come and go. enjoy them. i saw someone bitching about how they hate new jacks and kids from the middle of nowhere. to me the best writers are the ones who sneak out of left field. it always makes me happy to see someone new. with mags and the internet..its hard to catch new flavor once in awhile..and you wouldnt think it was. some kids attitudes may be bad and yeah that does suck but like someone said they probably wont be around in 5 years. lets just hope the damage they do is tolorable.

5. freight damage..does no one good.

once again i will stress the importance of staying off the numbers...no one can. im preaching to the choir i know but some of you have to realise..this is killing things for us. dont take bad order cars..dont blaze the blackboxes...and dont get spotted. right now is the time to be as stealth as possible when in the yards. there's countless info on this..especially the 'how to blow up your yard' threads. read them...they are here to help you.

6. keep your mouths shut.

part of the problem with freight trendyness is because you brag. dont take your new painty buddy to the yard just yet. it took me a year before i showed my partner in crime around the local yards. he was too scared to go by himself. good. use that. dont take kids before they're ready. and how do yuo know if they're ready? use your instincts. would yuo wanan see their shit on a train? no? dont take them. dont even mention it. 'do you hit trains man?' 'sometimes.' 'oh.' it keeps them quiet. thats what you're going for.

7. Last but not least....pretending to be cool.

some of you are hypocrites. you say one thing then change your mind and pretend to say something else. stop. you're not impressing anyone but yourself. either you know it or you dont and its okay if you dont..either ask or stay silent until you learn. the times will come..dont push it.

disclaimer: i am by no means famous..smart..or 'big in the scene.' i might not even know what i'm talking about...and/or you might not agree with me...fine..thats cool..but dont be a toy by acting like a bully..no..i probably wont ever see you so i cant hit you in your teeth. but thats your choice...look cool if you want to. this doesnt apply to everyone in all areas..some of you are more educated than others. i mean no disrespect..just to show how i see things. sorry for getting so long winded. peace.

i know a lot of times people dont like to hear shit about history and the old days of train graffiti in new york (not that i was there but ive got some pretty reliable sources), when new yorkers were more action and style than talk. kids in all four bouroughs were writing. the bench (there were several designated benchs in the city 149th was just 1) was a spot where writers would meet hang out, brag about graffiti and other writers. freights today are similar. kids from all over the continent are writing. but we cant just jump on the downtown local and meet at the bench today. yeah we can bench in our own cities but we rarely get to shoot the shit with other writers from other cities. so in this cyber age we call now this is the best way we have to communicate with other writers in other cities in a relatively immediate manor. as train writers we all bare witness to the fact that graffiti needs to move and be seen by other people in other places live, hell weve captured more of the essence of this "graff game" than any other medium....even if we dont always agree with each other. there are 3 kinds of kids here; the "oh this internet shit is wack yall are all toys" type..the "how do i steal paint and find a yard to write on the trains" type, and then there are the kids who play the fense, who take this shit a little more serious with than the average, who can come on here, put there pretentious obnoxious typical writer attitudes in check and have mature discussions. so while its cool to come here agree and disagree with fools, criticize peoples graffiti (im guilty) when its all said and done i love going to the bench and seeing graffiti on the trains. even if i think it sucks. i love going to the layup and seeing pieces on the good cars, even if it means i have to take another car. this is just a forum for discussion. while this is a good place for writers to get schooled about train saftey, ethics and protocol..i think its pretty stupid to take it more serious than that. its like benchin back in the day im sure there were kids out there that would just come around to hang out and throw salt, just like im sure there were kids who took it serious. just remember there once was a time when there was no graffiti on trains and everybody said "man i wish freight trains were runnin with graffiti on them" so now its here. anybody who is that disgusted with it should take a flying fuck and pick up another hobby.

i appreciate you guys telling me i have a good attitude. it means a lot. when i wrote that i was kinda ticked about what i was reading on here. as AWR said..we're all dislocated from each other in different places..and i got lonely sometimes. i havent had much interaction with writers other than via the internet. so when i see all this semi-corruption and stupidity i cant help but to feel as if our scenes are falling apart. he's right. all i got to say on that...is word.

Off my chest

I can't stand it when i paint with some one and there always on someones dick. Or the toys, OH the Fucking TOYS...it reminds me of how they want me to take them painting, or " we hit this one car at this spot"...and i finnally see there car or fliks and they did bombs!! Horrable bombs...kids who have been around for 2 YEARS and they suck sooo much. There tolerable people, at a distance, but they catch our work and it's SOO COOL to be doing what there doing, to say "YES I AM THE MAN! I HAVE JUST PUT MY SHIT ON MOVING METAL FOR ALL OF N.AMERICA TO SEE". It's funny they remember what they did, with whom, and where....and to find out a year latter that its noting but a portion of there tag behind a better piece.

We were all toys once. I was aware of being a toy untill someone told me i was good....I was called a toy and live with it, and did not get in a bad mood. Now when i meet the newbes in the area i joke with some, calling them toys. They get uptight and argue there a writer. Still playing around with the idea of graff, no artistic background what-so-ever, nothing to grasp except its the thing to do. Theres quite a fat handfull of artist out there, but most of us are taught from the beginning by the older heads, how to make a square and a circle then make a perportioned letter, characters, to everything...OR has jocked off countless mags and net images to form there mutated not so hybrid style...and its easy to catch a beginner jocking someone else...and letting them know whats up. And then they hit you up and all 30 of the other people in there area on every piece they do for the next year. Finnally they get the grasp of it, dont ask 20 questions and finnaly are pick-up by a crew, and off they go into the pool of countless writers expressing themselves, waiting for there 15mins of fame or just fall off completly and get on with there trendy lives...some live for minutes, others as long as the books of history are readable!

Not every story goes like this. But most have something incommon with it.

Im personally sick of hearing about toys on the internet.. although a lot of it needs to be said, and people do need reminding... it has all been said 15 million times, over and over.

The kids will never learn through the internet, they are ignorant.

I think we'd all be much better off if we worried about schooling the kids in our local cities, more so than the ones on the internet.

Correct? or no ...

Boogy, you are correct and i agree with your out look on the situation. but look, even thow its been said 15 million times on here. only about a hand full of toys take it seriously. so its like have a billboard with just some writing on it, (no one looks at it) but then you go tag it up. (and then everyone looks at when they go pass it) and its that simple act of addin a element to the billboard that catches your eye and youll probaly end up reading the billboard sooner or later. and thats what southern kid did. he was saying the same shit that everyone says but he was sugar coating it and makeing it atractive to catch the attention of toys. i mean read what he typed and tell me you could read that and not take it seriously. its just the way he presented the topic and used reason that changes his words into and eyecatching thread that will help educate many young toys. well shit ill quit adding my two cents now, later....

yes, yes. i agree. there's a sense of community to this all that's seductive in a way. why else would so many of us be on here, networking so much and weaving this cloth of a scene we're all a part of? i'm a fan of it personally and i've met a ton of people that i call friends now because of it.

word up.

A car is a car. Obviously we would rather paint the freights that are going to get the most play, but in my eyes as long as its gfoing to roll even just around my city, its still a moving target and I'll hit it. Sometimes you get lucky and a shit car goes somewhere good... Service lines and schedules change. Who knows what can happen when you hit certain types of "supposed" local service cars.

i agree. you never know exactly where something will roll. a local that stays around town for 2 years could in fact leave on a nation wide journey to all the major cities tomorrow. you never really know exactly.

very true. i agree. in fact sometimes i go out to hit locals when there are off line cars in the layup. but (and you maybe have to be a real freight nerd to really appreciate this) but if theres a B&O with a chessie logo in the lay-up that is pieced, painting a rbox or csxt waffle is settling.

but overall your point is valid. if it runs...even just from one end of the line to another im down to bless it.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean about not much interaction. I've painted with a partner maybe three times, but other than those times, I've always painted alone. It's alot easier that way though, because if your boy is wack, you don't gotta tell him to shut up, or clean up after him and whatnot. So word to painting alone. I feel you on that.
