yeah... Stephen Chow, he's the director, writer and star of Kung Fu Hustle.

I'll watch the dvd tonight (after karate class) and report back.

It's hitting theatres later this month in most major cities.

oh man.....

SOOOOOO GOOD!

great comedy,

all types of under the radar jokes (kurick?)

fast paces story,

amazing visual stylng and great efx.....

Not for people who dont like the genre,

but this flick was like Rodger Rabbit doing Kung Fu.

Totally over the top but really stupid fun.

king of comedy, god of cookery, fist of fury etc. are all hilarious. kung fu hustle isn't funny but the special effects are great and it's somewhat entertaining. the shining homage was awesome... i think. a lot of the actors are in a bunch of old shaw bros flicks also... which beats kill bill for sure.

*edit. i just realized i might have thought all the other/older stephen chow movies were funny because i watched then when i was young and carefree. now i'm just jaded and cynical. yay.

i thought kung fu hustle sucked.

the funny shit wasn't funny enough and the action was too cgi.

i liked shaolin soccer. that was funnier i think. i was looking forward to kung fu hustle and it disappointed me.

the fat guy in both of those movies owes my girlfriend about $100. (true story) she works in a fancy hair and nail saon. hong kong stars always leave without paying, like they think they are sponsored by the salon or something. i might have to kung fu that manicure getting, not paying (or tipping) fat bastards chinese ass.

^ funny that he did the same thing in the movie.

See I found Shaolin Soccer to be a bit slow and gritty.

Kung Fu Hustle is clearly designed to be a faster moving

and more international feature. Really it was like a big cartoon.

There's a few funny moments like when Stephen Chow's character

wants a 'one on one' fight in the slum. Plus those musician assasins

were just too wild. Yeah..... I dug it. Pure eye candy without getting all deep like Hero.
