... has the luckiest seat in the world !!!

so there are a few people on here that are into bikes (moderately so)

and many people who are into Jessica Alba.

so here's a very interesting, very stolen article.

You know you are a true MTBer when...

While watching the hip, cutting-edge TV series Dark Angel, you look past the

special effects and elaborate sets, and you gaze past Jessica Alba's beauty. The

shapely actress who plays Max Guevara isn't hard to look at, it's just that you -

because you are a hardcore rider - are trying to find out one thing, and one thing only...

What kind of bike is she riding?

The brainchild of writer, director James Cameron, Dark Angel is a post-apocalyptic

action series set 10 to 15 years in the future. In the show, people in the USA are

living in third world conditions, after a group of terrorists (assumedly) set off a

nuclear warhead over the United States. It never touched the ground but the resulting

radiation caused an EMP (electro-magnetic pulse) burst that wiped out anything

recorded magnetically.1 In Seattle Washington, the Space Needle still stands,

and is used by the lead character Max, as a place to sit and get away from it all

(usually 9 p.m., Tuesdays on Fox, during the opening credits).

Max (played by actress Jessica Alba), is a genetically engineered teen

who is wanted by the military. She joins Logan (Michael Weatherly), a

social crusader who promises her information about her past if she uses

her super-human abilities (running, fighting, generally looking good) to

help him with his noble causes.

To pay her bills, Max works for a courier service called Jam Pony, where

she shuttles items back and forth as a bike messenger; which gets us to

what it is about the show that has MTBers talking...

The courier bike.

What is it?

After some careful research involving popcorn and a call to Cannondale,

my guess was confirmed. Jessica Alba (Max) rides a Bad Boy - the

Cannondale Bad Boy Ultra to be exact. However, there are some distinct

differences between the Bad Boy of today, and the Bad Boy of the

future...

The 2000-2001 Cannondale Bad Boy Designed specifically as an urban assault

platform for hardcore commuters and bicycle messengers, the Bad Boy combines

road and mountain influences in a creation that offers the best of both worlds.

Built around the CAAD-4 mountain frame (Cannondale Advanced Aluminum Design),

the bike is then perched on a 700c wheelset for acceleration and speed.

Front suspension is provided in the form of the Headshock

Fatty Ultra with 70mm of travel, and fingertip-lockout capabilities. The

Bad Boy comes in matte black with black decals only, presenting an

overall low-profile appearance. Hydraulic disc brakes and a 9-speed

Shimano XT-XTR drivetrain are also standard fare. Volvo/Cannondale

team riders have been known to use this bike as a pre-race warm-up

machine. Indeed, its rugged construction would allow any commuter with

strong legs, to slap on a number plate and go mtb racing (a change of

wheelset is all that's required).

The 2010-2015 (Dark Angel) Cannondale Bad Boy Cannondale

should be impressed that their 2000-2001 Bad Boy is still going strong in

post-apocalyptic America, and that it is the ride of choice for a superhuman teen.

Any glimpses of the other bikes used by Max's co-workers at Jam Pony

suggest that she was the only one who could get her hands on a

high-performance ride after the nuclear war. Although her Bad Boy is bomb-proof,

it has seen better days, and many modifications are evident.

The Bad Boy no longer has its 700c wheelset. Instead, it is sporting what

look to be 26" mountain tires on two separate wheelsets. The front

wheelset is a magnesium offering (most likely Spinergy), and the rear is

a standard aluminum 32 hole rim. Both wheelsets have a braking surface

at the rim. The brakes appear to be Tectro side-pull cantilevers (a

nondescript brand used by Cannondale on their hybrid bikes) and the

clipless pedals have been replaced by flat pedals. Another noticeable

feature is the Backscratcher mudguard - a must have in Seattle's rainy

post-apocalyptic climate. The CAAD 4 frame is in one piece and the

Headshock Fatty Ultra appears to be going strong.

It's the End of the World as we Know it...

So, for all you commuter, would-be superhumans who have a grim view

of the world ahead, you can feel happy in the knowledge that your

trusted steed might survive a nuclear war. In the mind of James

Cameron at least, the future looks bomb proof.

This info is not entirly correct. In the first season, she rode a Novara Buzz (REI brand bike) with a 650c Spinergy Rev-X. In the second season, she gets hit by a car, then gets the Cannondale.

Just thought you'd like to know.

I'm gonna ditch the seat and takes its place.

She'll be thinking...I don't remember this bike having a banana seat...for sure.

-zeSto-

your right on about girls getting hotter when they swing a leg over a bike. I ran into this girl I had asked out on a bike pub crawl. She wasn't on the bike at the time and I was wondering...damn....why did I ask her out?
