Decomposing Whale Explodes on Street

TAIPEI (Reuters) - The decomposing remains of a 60-tonsperm whale exploded on a busy Taiwan street, showering nearby cars and shops with blood and organs and stopping traffic for hours, local newspapers said.

The 56-foot dead whale had been on a truck headed for an autopsy at a university earlier this week, when gases from internal decay caused its entrails to explode in the southern city of Tainan.

The whale had died after it was beached on the southwestern coast of the island.

A crane carries the corpse of a 56-foot sperm whale at the National Cheng Kung University in Tainan in southern Taiwan for an autopsy on January 26, 2004. The whale ran aground and died on a beach in the southwestern county of Yunlin on January 17. Due to internal decomposition, the whale's organs burst from its belly on the way to university's laboratory

yeah, the train lines are elevated around here, so no probs there (unfortunately).

just an update. all the newspapers and tv stations are downstairs checking it all out right now. they are still pumping all the water out (like 7 hours later). there were 15 cars in the basement carpark that are all fucked (we're talking saabs/audis/bmw's n shit). all in all, an exciting day

Is it deep ? Like deep enough to jump from a 2nd story and dive/bombie ? that would be fun to do :ballcap:

the basement was filled with water to the roof. you'd need scuba gear to get down there. it's not that full now. it's about waist deep at the moment
