S@T@N Posted July 16, 2004 Share Posted July 16, 2004 I saw the first showing at a Regal Cinemas in Orlando... and this movie was absolutely awesome. I expected Will Smith to blow his first movie appearance in a while by trying too hard, but he actually ended up filling the part pretty well. The story is deep, with plenty of twists to keep you on your toes. Visuals are obviously a plus... the bots are completely believable, at least on my part. Plenty of explosions and dying and shooting and falling, etc. for those out there who need shiny things to keep them attentive. Go see this movie, whenever you can. It's not one to miss. What I said was it was good for a hokey hero action future space flick. I liked it, but if you aren't down with movies that make up for the plot with great visuals, you probably wouldn't (or didn't!) The previews for I, ROBOT don't do it justice, I assure you. It's not just a Men-In-Black-quality movie with a different face, it's a genuinely good movie. shape1369 Posted July 16, 2004 Share Posted July 16, 2004 the movie isnt based off asimovs book. its based of some of the laws of robotics proposed in the book. they ripped the title and some of the smaller character names. but the plots are very different. most asimov fans will end up pissed. personally i could care less. but just didnt want it to proliferate that its based off asimov, cus i dont wanna read how many ever posts after everyone goes to see it and bitch about how it is so much different. realise they took some things and put them in a different story. anywho just tryin to help ppl enjoy the movie a lil more. imdb is a wonderful thing... My only criticism is I felt the compromises they made to get to the PG13 rating seemed kinda obvious. I'd have preferred and darker, more sinister movie with an R rating. The theatre where I saw the movie offers more than just popcorn and candy.. and the moron sitting next to me decided to get nachos, eat with his mouth open, and at the end of the film, he left the rest of them in his chair. Some guy tried to make me drink the coffee I just bought because I couldn't bring it in, he said he couldn't let me because they had camaras on him. I brought it in anyway. But that was for Kill Bill 2, not this movie. This movie looks ok but pretty stupid at the same time. Sometimes stupid movies are good but I have to be in the mood for them.
