alkaline
Okay, I'm sure that in an eight-hour day at work, I could find you enough information to make your brain swell for the next 6 months, but I'll limit it this what's below so that I don't spend my whole day doing this instead of work. SETI Heaps of cool science stuff. Check out the Science section and read about The Drake Equation. Side note: For a long time now, I’ve been looking for recordings of the “sounds that stars make.” If anybody has or knows where I can obtain a quality recording of these sounds, I would appreciate that information very much. Instruction manual for a Stellar 310 payphone (and others) A whole shit-load of radio schematics and manuals I did a search on E-bay for ”instructional books” There is also a category for this: Books: Non-fiction: Instructional http://abacus.sj.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/_EBAY_48e864f0ec9ee8c87854ed3d19/i-1.JPG'> Slide rule instruction books These look cool, and if you want them, you might have to out-bid me. http://abacus.sj.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/_EBAY_25143c8cecaf650db0234f8bb5/i-1.JPG'> Metals and How to Weld Them Instructional swimming books Instructional shorthand book Instructional sailing books Shabby Chic Instructional Books 50's 60's Also, go to thrift stores and buy out-dated used encyclopedias. There's loads of cool stuff to look at in those, and at thrift stores, they are real cheap. Incidentally, this is one of the things that I love the most about the internet. I can find information on any subject out there, and do some learning. I’m like Johnny5 in Short Circuit. “In-puuut!”

Guest Are2
my reccomendation for best new book "The Theory of Everything" it is an ambitious book attempting to unite theories in physics (especially string theory), biological systems, culture, religion, philosophy, morality, all that good stuff.. i forget the authors name right now, but so far the book is very impressive.. it's by Shambala Publications..which puts out a ton of awesome books on eastern philosophy and religion, as well as other topics..like "The Tao of Physics" another good one.. another good one is "The Discoverers" an awesome book about man's establishment and discovery of stuff, like the calendar, and time, etc etc.... there is another one i saw but haven't read yet..i believe it is called "The Language of Math" ..i think an incredible book about totally abstract theory on the basis of mathematics

alkaline
Hahaha ... I make $12.50 (US$) an hour to sit in front of a computer all day and input numbers into a retail database. Ususally I have plenty of time to goof around. If you need help finding something specific, just let me know, and I'll see what I can do. Too bad I'll be leaving this plush job soon (I'm moving to a new city). Thanks for checking on those sound files. Check out this book: http://images.amazon.com/images/P/0028646827.01.LZZZZZZZ.gif'> Computer Music: Synthesis, Composition, and Performance by Charles Dodge, Thomas A. Jerse I have a copy of it, and there is tons of interesting stuff in there. Loads of diagrams and charts and the like.
alkaline
Also, if you haven't seen it already, check out the website HowStuffWorks. There is TONS of stuff on this site. Loads and loads of in-puuuut. A couple of years ago, I stumbbled across a site that was an online WWII museum of sorts. They had an extremely vast array of American war propaganga posters. I'll see if I can find it again.
alkaline
Holy shit! I'm getting better at this than I thought. http://www.library.northwestern.edu/govpub/collections/wwii-posters/img/ww1646-75.jpg'> ^One of my favorites^ World War II Poster Colection Bookmark that one. It is really interesting to me to see how America promoted tolerable racism during the war. There is one poster that reads, "Stay on the job until every murdering Jap is wiped out!" People would freak out if something like that was posted all over town now-days. Also check out World War II Propagana Posters Both sites have a lot of the same stuff. This poster should still be printed today: http://www.openstore.com/posters/ridewith.jpg'>
