It Hammered The Texas Coast Pretty Good

Galveston had some bitchin' surf (twelve to fourteen feet) but when it came ashore it fucked up Port O'Conner and Sargent pretty good. Freeport and Surfside Beach took a big ass beating too. Three beach houses had shorted electrical systems and burned to the waterline in the middle of a Class I hurricane. The Freeport Fire Department rescued four generations of people from one beach house that disintegrated in the high winds.
If there had not been counter-blowing winds that caused something called "shear" it would have been much worse. Here in Houston (sixty miles from the Gulf) it rained hard. That was it. Two people died from falling trees and shit.
