How to tie the Half Windsor knot

Discussion started by Vanity - May 25, 2004

Symmetrical and Triangular.
A knot you can use with any dress shirt

1. The wide end "A" should extend about 12 inches below narrow end "B". Cross wide end "A" over narrow end "B".

2. Bring wide end "A" up around and behind narrow end "B".

[img]http://www.neckties.com/template/halfwindsor3.gif'>
3. Bring wide end "A" up.

[img]http://www.neckties.com/template/halfwindsor4.gif'>
4. Pull wide end "A" up and through the loop.

[img]http://www.neckties.com/template/halfwindsor5.gif'>
5. Bring wide end "A" around front, over narrow end "B" from left to right.

[img]http://www.neckties.com/template/halfwindsor6.gif'>
6. Again, bring wide end "A" up and through the loop.

[img]http://www.neckties.com/template/halfwindsor7.gif'>
7. Bring wide end "A" down through the knot in front.

8. Using both hands, tighten the knot carefully and draw up to collar.

9. tie end "a" to a doorknob and walk around in circles on your hands and knees until you choke to death.

Neck ties are like novelties are like royalties. We've all got 'em, they're all "ties".

yeah, i ussually go for the four in hand myself, cause i'm tall and it gives me extra slack.

The Dimple

http://www.neckties.com/template/dimple01.jpg'>
1. After you've tied your knot but before you tighten it up to your throat, neatly pinch the fabric directly underneath the knot.

[img]http://www.neckties.com/template/dimple02.jpg'>
2. Keep pinching as you tighten the knot; make sure the dimple's locked in.

I seem to remember seeing stupid pop-ups for some "dimpling tool" to help you get a crisp professional dimple in your tie. Its never concerned me that much.

well, the dimple should concern you ese. it should be approx 1 inch across, and the sides between 60 and 50 degrees in slope.

what concerns me right now is finding a pair of plain cufflinks that won't cost me a fortune. I have no idea where the hell to go.

i really pity people who have to wear suits every day. as if wearing a heavy uncomfortable jacket in the middle of summer isn't bad enough, you gotta tie a fucking rope around your neck too. that makes a lot of fucking sense. whos fucking idea was it anyway? what an asshole.

right now i'm fortunate enough to be able to go to work in jeans, a comfortable shirt, and a pair of chucks. but if they stick me back in one of the branches its back to the business attire.
