well mainly my life sux..ihave thought of suicide many times..i have attempted it b4 but i didnt go all the way through with it..im mainly making this new thread because ive been thinking bout suicide lately and life has reely been a bitch...............

having parents on your back is nothing to commit suicide over. suck it up. if they're on your back, it's for a reason (and usually because you're being a fuck-up) so just deal with it.

I contemplated suicide when I was about 100 pounds fatter [yes, Ive lost a LOT of weight] not doing anything productive, and feeling sorry about myself.

Now; Im much skinnier, painting my ass off and trying to build my portfolio, and realizing that SO MANY people have it worse than me.

How to feel better:

Dude [generally], your life DOES NOT SUCK. Most likely, your parents havent sold you for prostitution, raped you, or made kiddie porn of you as a child. You might live in a low-income area and think you cannot do anything with your life. Bullshit. It might be a little harder but that just should give you the ambition to try harder. Dont feel bad about yourself, listen, Ive been there done that, had things done to me done things to myself, Im not some happy go lucky girl thinking Im invisible or that life is perfect, because IT IS NOT. But you need to realize all things that happen to you that suck are just to build you up to a stronger person, not to fuck you up.

When life sucks, it can only get better. And once you have that mentality, nothing will get in your way. And when fucked up things happen to you again, use them as experiences and not as depressing, dear-god-my-life sucks occurations.

Suicide is the most selfish thing in the world. My friend recently has been in and out of mental hospitals, and when she was out Id come home to her apt while she was sleeping, would stare at her just to fucking see if she was still breathing. Imagine what the person who finds you dead will go through. Seriously, put yourself in there shoes, think about it. How would you feel for the rest of your life? Probably like utter shit, especially because you will constantly think "it is my fault for not helping them... if only I listened" etc.

Think before you do, and this is coming from probably the most impulsive person youll ever meet.

all of my closest friends have admitted contemplating suicide. at one point, an ex actually threatened me with the prospect of killing herself. the majority of these situations have been obvious crys for help. i dont know you particular situation, but if its anything like what ive seen/felt swallowing a handfull of pills or cutting yourself isnt going to help the situation.

Selfish is NOT the right word here. To everyone telling this kid to put his life in perspective, if you haven't experienced serious depression like this I really don't think you are in a position to say anything. Suicide is not rational. It is not so simple to put things in perspective. Read the Sound and the Fury for a good example of how complicated it is (Quentin Compson). My advice to this kid would be to talk to people, close friends, possibly a therapist. Obviously suicide is the wrong answer, but it can require incredible will to avoid.

"Darkness Visible" by William Styron is a good book about depression, too.
