WELL I MANY TIMES. RUN THIS SUBJECT THROUGH MY HEAD. DOES GRAFF. ON THE INTERNET BENEFIT US OR DOES BREED BITERS, TOYS AND JOCKS? IN THE BEGINNING WHEN THE INTERNET WAS NEW I WOULD HAVE SAID IT BENEFITS US. WHY? OBVIOUS. WE GET TO SEE WORK FROM ALL OVER. GOOD AND BAD. BUT NOW THAT EVERYONE AND THERE GRANDMOTHERS KNOWS BOUT THE NET, THINGS HAVE CHANGED. EVERYBODY WANTS TO PUT UP A GRAFF SITE. CASE AND POINT. I WENT TO THIS PARK AND RAN INTO A CREW OF KIDS. I HITEM UP CUZ THATS WHAT I DO WHEN I SEE HEADS THAT MIGHT BE WRITERS. THEY ASKED ME TO HIT THERE BLACKBOOK, SO I DID. AS I WAS TURNIN THROUGH PAGES PEEPIN THERE WORK, I NOTICED SIMILIAR STYLES THAT NEW HEADS ARE BITIN IN L.A. THAT AYER LTS SOER, ZESER STYLE. OK IM OVER THAT. BUT WHEN I TURNED TO THE LAST PAGE I SAW A FEW PRINT OUTS FROM SOME WEBSITES OF THE LTS AND SOME OTHER SHIT.:eek: I ASKED THEM IF THEY HAD EVER BEEN TO THE SPOTS THAT THESE PRINT OUTS CAME FROM. THEY REPLIED NO. OOH MAN. SHIT GETS ME MAD. I HANDED BACK HIS BOOK AND WORDED HIM UP ON SOME KNOWLEDGE, CUZ THE KNOWLEDGE THEY WERE GETTIN WAS FROM THE NET. COMPLETE BITES. I REMEMBER WHEN THE INTERNET FOR THE MOST WAS PORN, DOWNLOADS, AND GRAFF. GRAFF WAS ONE OF THE INTERNETS FIRSTS. IN THE BEGINING I WAS GONNA PUT UP A L.A. GRAFF SITE, THINKING IN MIND THAT IT WAS GONNA REAL LOW PROFILE. SHIT IVE GOT THOUSANDS OF L.A. FLIX FROM 80'S AND ON ALL TOP QUALITY. I GOT LIKE 85% OF WHAT ALL L.A. GRAFF SITES PUT UP NOW, AND MORE AND BETTER QUALITY. OF COURSE I DONT HAVE EVERYTHING. THATS NOT MY MISSION. MY MISSION IS TO HAVE THE BEST COUNTY WIDE COLLECTION OF FLIX. THE BEST REPRESENTATION OF THE CITY I LOVE. LOS ANGELES. I SCRAPPED MY WHOLE WEBSITE IDEA CUZ 1. IM NOTICING ITS CONTRIBUTING TO THE ALREADY FUCKED UP SCENE OF ALL CITY BITERS/TOYS. 2. there may be a lot more people claiming to be getting up because of the internet, but i don't see graf changing that much (in terms of the level of toys) because of the internet.. (on the east coast)

i guess what i mean is that if kids are gonna pretend, they're gonna do it with or without the net

think of the net as a good way for people who are actually into some shit to network..

all those kids jocking graf on the net would prolly be jockin anyway, they just wouldn't be so vocal..and as far as easier access to style biting, that is true, but with all the magazines being prodused now, that is gonna happen anyway..artists will continue to draw their inspiration from a general environment, hopefully with some originality

and who really cares if the net actually gets a few people off their ass and onto the street?

graf was becoming more and more mainstream regardless of the interenet..i see it in advertisement all over now..

i'm trying not to have nostalgia for the old days and just keep pushing the art further..the more i get tripped up thinking about what other sare doing, the less time i am spending on developing my own shit...

We all start somewhere...and either way, you are toy when you start..and kids who print out photos from the net today, are versions of myself carrying around subway art in my backpack with paint pen tags on it, many... years ago....it is all relative.

The only thing the net has done is increased the viewing population..I can now see what is going on in europe without going there, which ain't such a bad thing.

The streets don't lie wherever you go.And if so an so comes here, I don't ask them who is up on the net..I ask who is up on them streets...and those kids geting skooled from the net..will go out and paint and if their shit is a bite..dis it...and if their shit is weak, burn it.And drop some 411 to them....the same way it was kicked to myself..No matter what, it is not a sport with a guide book, a list of what and what not to do's..it is a craft...a trade..and a lifestyle..and those who wish to live it..will...and those who front..will stop after the local cop sees those tags on that backpack and throws them in juvie.

Yo, i feel you on this one, but the way i see things is that you need to keep in mind that things change, times change, i mean, do you remember ever thinking how it was time for the new way of things get done, cuz the old is a bit dated, sure i respected the lifestyle i put myself in, and i feel that it was the correct way to go about doing things, back in '89, but i dont know... I felt the same way you did for a hot minute, but then i just thought about the fact that the way we carried graff mags and classic graff books, these kats today are doing what we did, only in a modern world. Now the fact about kids biting, well i cant say i never saw kids that straight bit out of the mags and books we used to look at, cuz i did see that shit, but to tell you the truth, i can now say that maybe half those kats now are setting trends now. I learned a certain way early, and i owe that to the ppl i surronded myself with. But these kids catch nuffin but the raw end of the stick, too many of us have mixed feelings about things and "keepin it real", yet we dont look back at our first times, if it werent for someone to point me in the right direction, would i have been as "wack"? I feel you bro, but we need to evolve, we need to look at the scene and work with it, drop science, give the kids the feedback we wish we had, i knew madd kids that as soon as they got their ears pulled for going the wrong way, they felt the need to get hard, or be worse, just to rebel. If we are cool to the next generation, maybe they will be cool to the one after that. (damn i always babble on, my badd), I think we need to keep on keepin on. I try to help the new kids i meet. Although the net has a universal audience..it doensn't give the right or invitaion to bite other writers stelo...It's main purpose is to provide information to its users...be it in the privacy in their home or office...the same way subway art, spray can art and stlye wars had exposed grafitti art to people who would have not seen it...the net is exactly like the original sources of graf info...it's just on a different medium....biters will alwayz bite and toyz will be toyz!!!

The net does have a different audience than the streets. Most kids I know of don't give a fuck about the net..and whatever drama goes on in it or from it. The streets are where it goes down. Walk through my parts, and see my crew up...look on the web...ain't much up.

The web seems to be where the fan club lies...where people are getting the new trends from.. there is a lot of style biting from it for sure. Look at JOKER and the raping of his style going on...and the whole LA wanna be style we see being painted outside of LA.or just directly bitin it within LA...or people thinking that so and so invented a style that has been around for years.....kinda sad...

but the real heads know what the deal is..and know exactly what is going on...it ain't hard to tell...once you know letters, and know where and how things are formed, you can look at someones piece and break it down..and the one's who are pushing the envelope will always shine...

you can't fake STYLE....no way, no how...you either got it...or you dont..

it is kinda like what is happening with skateboarding....now there are the x-games and tony hawk playstation and everyone can play it...but put them on a skateboard and they will fall on their ass..

I have no opinion, I wish I hadnt had the internet for graff, I wish it was like when I first started (the internet was around definetly, but i didnt look at it) I like the sense of discovery, like me and my freinds figured out how to make a kiwi mop by our selves with no influence from the net older writers or mags, that was cool, and just going out and hitting dumpsters, figuring out that you should do your fill first (embarassing expeirence involving a van) making inks (we figure out pretty fast, that shoe polish wasnt permanent) we invented a variation of horse called TAG with astopwatch while we walked home from school, you had to tag somethign within two minutes of the last guy with the same pen,(so you couldnt wuss out and use a sharpie)hiding those short spraycans in 12 pack pop cases under the pop cans so we could get paint over to a freinds house with out our parents noticing, sneaking out for the first time all paranoid, and thinking up exuses "like we were only going for a walk" if your parents caught you. I guess the internet was my first inspiration I went to 149th st site, and looked at everything one night, an dthe next day at school, I got some kids into writing, we started a crew, but I never really looked at the computer much, like we everything we knew about graff we picked up from expeirence, caps we learned about when we stopped by this hip hop shop. And by then we had already been painting alot. I got to start painting again. But the hip hop game has got me going another way, I just loved that feeling of discovery every day, the internet takes a lot of that away. MOJO MAOS

The toys that start graff because of the net are usually gone in 6 months anyway......It gives kids who dont live near it and are serious about it to practice it endlessly until they are good....But Graff goin mainstream? that shit is getting more serious to the day, Look at it in America its a felony....Unless kids are hitting legals I doubt it will go mainstream, it will just go in a periodic wave like something else thats trendy, while the serious still practice....I dont understand why people bite, the most ive bittin is just rounding off the ends of my letters...Its so easy to go different, just flip letters around do two of them upsidown whatever it takes..Just do something fucking different...
