Graffiti shooter sentenced to 28 years

A Bakersfield man has been sentenced for shooting a homeowner who tried

to stop taggers from spraying graffiti in his neighborhood. Wednesday

morning Superior Court Judge Stephen Gildner sentenced Hector Melgoza to

28-years in prison for shooting John Gardenhire back in July. Gardenhire

tried to stop Melgoza from painting graffiti on a sign outside his home

in southwest Bakersfield. Daniel Angelo Montantes also charged in the

case pleaded no contest to lesser charges earlier this year.
