    Graffiti Fonts

Discussion started by hyrax - Mar 30, 2003

I know some people here are probably completely against graffiti fonts (mainly cause they all have weak letters), so I'm offering to change this.

Now I know that there isn't amazing (not my handstyles, based off someone i know ;/)

So if anyone's up for it, post your alphabet (numbers too) and I'll choose one to make a full font out of, or a seperate thread can be started with a poll to vote on which one should be a full font.

Haha yeah i guess it's a hard concept to understand this is a thread for people to submit their ALPHABETS TO BE TURNED INTO A FONT, not fonts already made. Hmm!

It actually is pretty bad in my opinion, I just needed an example. The whole point of this is to put together one that most people agree is good ;)

I am absolutely disgusted when I see major companies
using 'graf' fonts on adds. Some typography HAS to be made
by hand for each specific application. I saw an add for some local
r&b singer and the type was set in 'eastsidemotel'. Damn it you fools!
Hire a writer, learn how to do, at least try to give your product a hint
of realism. I just dont know how any respected art director can
think that these fonts work. It HAS to be done for each specific case.

I've seen some graf fonts that just look like decent script hands,
but as we all know... the letters dont stand on their own.
It's the context of the letters in the words that make the point.

Even if they cant hire a writer (becasue we're below the radar),
hire a professional designer, typographer or even a calligraphy buff.
Fuck the cookie cutter graphics that they think will reconnect to our market.

I agree, I see that Brooklyn Kid font EVERYWHERE. I don't know though, I think it's cool if people make their own fonts, soemthing new for them to learn.

well your not going to make a good font because its impossible. the whole point of a good handstyle is how you let the letters work together almost as one in the word that your trying to write. but since a font is based on perfecting single characters at a time it will never be perfect.

I dont think this is working. I believe the idea is to post your alphas and get them mass produced if you win. SICK!
