WITH ALL THESE INFLUENTIAL CREWS AND WRITERS COMING UP ON THIS FORUM< I FELT A VERY IMPORTANT CREW WAS NOT ADRESSED DIRECTLY> CERTAIN WRITERS HAD THEIR THREADS< BUT NOT THE CREW>

WHICH INCLUDED: Airborn/Tack/Kaze/Spade127

Dash167/Serve/Sak/Psycho/

wane/seen/west/zame/doze

risk/seam1/flite and many others

THESE LONG LIST OF WRITERS HAD THE SUBWAYS KILLED IN NY AND ACROSS THE WORLD> THEIR STYLE WAS AMAZING> I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR SOME HISTORY FROM THE LIKES OF DASH AND OTHERS THAT WERE THERE> PEACE

Most of these pics may belong in the metalheads thread, but this crew brought the ill pieces from the trains to the walls. without them, many people would not be writing on the walls today.

FBA History part 1

Fast Breakin' Art est. 1978

Founding memebers:

AIRBORN ONE (Prez) aka: Flying High '79 (originally wrote Audi 5000)

SPADE 127 aka: 2Real (originally wrote Ace 140)

TACK aka: Sab, Bas, Kar, Kan, Pas, Sure, Was, Saw (originally wrote Tack2)

ALIVE 5 CIA aka: NINALIVE for Nina & Alive

BABY ROCK aka: BABY 137

REPEL 137

KAZE aka: MUG TC5 (originally wrote kamiKaze)

DORE aka: SEP (made up the name "Fast Breakin' Art", from his cousin's: The BBOY

named Fast Break of Rock Steady Crew)

-----------------------

Origin:

Spade and Airborn grew up together from diapers on 140th street & broadway.

When they realized that each other had got into writing the decided to form a crew together.

The first attempt at a crew was Airborn's NSA: Non Stop Action

The second attempt was Spade's WKTU :(a popular disco station) Writers Killing The Undergound

They were bombing the neighberhood streets and then the layups at 145th under broadway.

---------------------

On the first day of school in 78, Airborn met Tack at the 137 st station on their way to Art & Design High School.

They realised that Tack lived on 140th also, but on the other side of broadway, they became friends and at A&D, they made the connects that would lead them to greatness.

--------------------

At A&D they met Dore and Kaze from the Bronx. Dore had the name FBA, tack thought the name was too fresh to just be in the Bronx and in Books. So they formed the FBA Crew.

.......................

Spade and Airborn were writing as partners, Repel 137 had quit already. Tack needed a paartner.. Alive 5 who was also from 140th, but had been living in Brooklyn with his girl (he was an adult already at the time) had come back to live at his moms crib for a while. He knew Spade and Airborn since they were little and was surprised that they now were writers. So he joined FBA and schooled them on the ropes, and became Tacks first partner.

-------------------

FBA started pulling out mad cars on the 1 line and started getting known.

At school, they were under the tutilage of Doze and Seen TC5. Part of their drive in the early days was to get known so Seen would put them down with TC5.

It took them 9 months to get down. (when u see someone EVERY DAY at school, thats a long time)

------------------

Airborn left NYC in 1981 when his family moved to Florida.

He left the Crew to Spade and Tack.

This led to the 2nd generation of FBA.

----------------------------------------

Thats it for now, hope you all enjoy the history.

And the Dap is much appreciated.

Your absolutely right it should of been done in the metalheads thread, but the way i see it, is since the train scene in the us does not exist to the extent it did in the 70's 80's and even early 90's, and most people today piece on walls. A good portion of todays writer who piece on walls, have been influenced be Fba style without even knowing it. All these piecers are heavily influenced by the "motion letters" that Fba virtually invented and rocked so well. I just wanted to show to those that did not know, who invented this style that is so commonly used on the walls.

yeah forreal, not to press the point, but dash's posts are examples of how this kind of site can be dope...if people that actually knew what they were talking about were the only people on here, shit would be nice. bottom line: FBA and FC have always been my favorite crews of all time for piecing style. this thread proves my point.

i agree with cheerleader on this one....

1) this thread is very cool , because of not only the pictures , but the incredible history lesson that dash gave on the origin of the crew , history etc.... this is something that makes people like me who actually care about graffiti history , a chance to learn. something that alot of you fucking idiots need to do.

2) it also gives a crew that most definately inspired me (as well as countless others) much deserved dap. theres only so many threads on 3a and att that i can stand. when i had the honor of meeting Henry Chalfant a few months ago i got a once in lifetime oppertunity to "talk shop" with someone who took pictures of the pieces that i looked to for insperation when i began my stupid graffiti "career". during his speech , he showed pieces that fba did that were soooooo fucking ahead of their time. FBA is by far my favorite crew of all time. and to this day i think that Airborne is one of the most underrated writers in history.

ive rambled too long.

thank you dash

and thank you FBA.
