I think Engalnd will be runners up in Group B, after France.

Therefore we'll have to play the winners of Group A in Lisbon, who I think will be Portugal.

I can't see us knocking out Portugal.

:(

Arr, I think we`ll do well..We always raise our game against the proper good teams, more likely scrap a draw against Croatia knowing us.

Yes, finally Euro04 is getting close. The national league is over, ( YES, FC COPENHAGEN TOOK THE DOUBLE!) and the focus is on the games in Portugal.

Most interesting thing worth noticing is that every group will have a local derby:

Germany vs. Holland

Denmark vs. Sweden

England vs. France

Portugal vs. Spain

These will be keygames in the groups, with both points but mostly national honour at stake.

Okay 12oz, what should we try and predict this year?

Who will advance from the groups, aka Final 8

The four semi-tems, aka Final 4

Or just the winner?

France looks like favorite once again, although their WC 02 campaign was a disaster, 0 goals in three games and a ticket home...

Lets try and keep this thread going with interesting posts of thoughts, stories, insights and flicks.

Rodder's Predictions...

I'm going heavily with Portugal having the home advantage in this competition. And I'm not too sure how good the Germans are at the moment. The Czechs could well pip them to second place.

Group A

Winners: Portugal

2nd: Spain

Group B

Winners: France

2nd: England

Group C

Winners: Italy

2nd: Denmark

Group D

Winners: Holland

2nd: Germany

Quarter Finals (winners in bold type)

Portugal

v

England

France

v

Spain

Italy

v

Germany

Holland

v

Denmark

Semis

Portugal

v

Italy

France

v

Holland

And France to win the final.

On a side note England are playing Japan tonight, so for once a friendly will be interesting to watch to see who is still fit at the end of the domestic season and who is in form.

I think Germany would beat Italy. Also, even though Portugal is playing at home, Portuguese players are not of the same class. Either they are getting old, or they are only good in the symbiosis of their club. i.e Porto for a bunch of'em. I don't see them going as far as you'd expect.

Once again, I extend my invitation to take part in a Euro Pool. I can email you the forms, cost is £2 and you have a chance of winning a lot of money. Has to be in by June 6th, though.....so like a week.

Germany are crap. They will do nothing. The Czechs are much better. Portugal have had some dodgy results lately. Spain never do anything, despite probably having the best team in Europe. England have a good chance, but knowing them, they won't win. Holland have to be a favourite, so much class in that team and they will be looking to redeem themselves after missing the World Cup. France? Well, I hate them, so I'm just going to hope that Henry breaks his cruciate ligaments and never plays football again. I don't care if England don't win, as long as they beat France. Oh god how sweet that would be.

There's always one surprise team that no one thinks will go through in these tournaments. I don't know....the only surprise I can think of is Bulgaria :o
