RumPuncher
on the topic of up and coming sceensters... what's going on with electroclash? It seems that even Madonna is trying to sound like MissKittin in her new single. And how come all the bankers are showing up at nights that use to be entirely filled with post-punker, rocker industry-types? Why is everyone saying that the whole thing is as good as over, when it's really only just begun? does anyone else even know what I'm talking about? fizm
first. i think it's going to come and go. too trendy, too fast, no national scene.
RumPuncher
that's the thing... it doesn't need a national scene. Just to use disco as a comparison, It was freaking huge in metro centers, and it wasn't untill every housewife in Boise Idaho knew about it that it all went to shit. And there is a national scene... it's called Germany. Souless, robotic, Germany. Perfect fit !

fizm
well, it'll be ultra-trendy, so any scene it gets is still going to be nyc cokeheads... which means it'll be popular live but not sell a whole lot of records...

pase.one
i hate people like madonna to begin with. anything in music that becomes popular she decides to make her own. electro is not new. but due to the huge success of felix da housecat's cd "kittenz and the glitz" it has seen this huge resurgance. and all of a sudden it's this huge trend. i don't have a problem with it being a trend because once its not cool to listen to anymore all the trendy fucks like her will die out. it's just irritating sometimes to hear ppl talk about it like they have listened to it for years. SukiSukiNow
Ladytron. Oh hun it's just a trend. Things come and go, it's out before it ever began. Everyone jumps on the bandwagon and is pushed off before they/you know it.
RumPuncher
yeah.. all I know is that my ex has been throwing electro nights for 2 years now, and the core crowd stays the same. The people are are looking for the new 'in' thing come and go. but I really dig the Goldenboy and MissKittin disc.

optimodub
been loving the electro stuff for a couple of years, adult, ladytron, miss kittin, bolz bolz, consol etc. etc. but now the 'scene' is dead apparently, now that the the mainstram have raped it, with every shite pop band sticking an 'electro' mix on their latest single, and madonna is the kiss of death, what bandwagon hasn't that bitch jumped on? but fuck em, been going to a club that's been playing it for years and i'm still loving it

Joker
I'd love to sympathize with you at this point, but really I can't. And here's why... In the early eighties a young man named Steven Strange started a band called Visage. And all the 'Electroclash' stuff you here now is based off of his sound. If you've never heard Visage, trust me on this one. I have no time to lie. When I was a 'club kid' in the mid-eighties Visage was all I cared about when it came to music. Sure bands like Ultravox, Tubeway Army and The Passions were on the heels of Visage and helped to create a sound, but Visage was the end all be all sound. The Felix Da Housecat CD is great. I really like it, but it's stolen sounds. Kinda like what you're persecuting madonna for. Not that I'm defending her... This of course is just my opinion. RumPuncher
Originally posted by Joker This of course is just my opinion. and a valid one. The difference between Felix and Madonna is simple. He's was still an underground house dj who did a studio/vanity project. She's already a huge star, who hires producers to give her the 'new sound'. I dont think that Felix knew that he'd be rocketed to super stardom because of a pet project. and joker... I'll go searching for Visage. Luckily there are shops in my area that specialize in that era and genre.

The Dude
ive liked adult for a while, but nothing really compares to i am spoonbender, and they have a different theme each time they play, but i guess they dont want to be fitted into the "electroclash" category. and you knew ladytron was going to get big once they played a song from their last album on a nissan commercial. i wouldnt mind if it were to get big, it would be better than all this rapmetal garbage and pseudo grunge crap.....
