Fist 666
this is like the 4th thread i've ever started so don't expect too much from me (also i'm NOT a photographer) alright. these are from a couple different hikes over the last month in Capitol Forest, south of Olympia WA. so i drive through a bunch of unmarked logging roads as far as i can, lock my truck and get to hiking.
Fist 666
this slug was almost 8 inches long some flowers (i'm going back next week, there should be much more in bloom now) these leaves are huge, some of them were bigger than my torso (don't know what they are) i'll post more later this week from other trips. i'm going back there next monday with my mountain bike if weather permits.

qsysue
Now THIS is what a forest should look like. :) I grew up in WA, and moving to Cali and seeing what the forests are like here--just a huge difference. You're not supposed to be able to see the ground in a forest! haha. Looking forward to more.

Fist 666
These are a couple years old. If you ever get the chance La Push/Forks/Clallam/Neah Bay are probably the most beautiful beaches i've ever been to, ignore the twilight nonsense and my terrible photos. This is La Push on a clear day. /nowerewolf Bad photo, but you can sort of see the waterfall filling the ocean.
Fist 666
Catching a sunny day up here is a special thing, more likely when you do something it'll be raining, misting, foggy, and generally uncomfortable, but its still beautiful and you have to make the most of it or you'll get all cobain. And La Push on a foggy, rainy day (the best picture i've ever taken) BALD EAGLE! Pops next to some big ass drift wood And I caught this driving home… sorry the order on this stuff sucks, the sizes too, hope you guys like seeing something different, now that i'm going to post these somewhere i'll try to take more pictures that capture the basics of the place that i take for granted living here.
qsysue
Nice shots. More please. Have you been to Crescent Lake? One of my favorite places on earth. We used to live in Sequim, WA. My husband used to surf at La Push a lot. We'd also go down to Seaside and Indian Beach in OR--the Oregon/Washington coast is gorgeous. I always thought this commercial sums it up pretty well: It's funny cuz it's true.
Fist 666
that ad is awesome. i've never spent more than a few minutes at a pull off on crescent lake, but i do plan on it. my grandparents used to live in sequim so i've spent a bunch of time up there. i'm going to manzanitas, OR this weekend for my second anniversary getaway. pretty excited, hope the weather stays clear. qsysue
I hope it does too! And take lots of pics. :) Maybe someday I'll post some of my pics from the beaches up there--all snapshots of my kids when they were small. Here's some pics of Crescent Lake--if you can get out on a boat, do it! BTW, your sig rules.

Keepitrail
Very nice pictures... great thread. Would you be down to meet up and check some of these spots out?? Really dig the La Push... I'll be in Washington next month. Unless it'll be too cold, I don't know the weather patterns up here. PM me if you're interested!!
Fist 666
pmd. it won't be too cold, but we're pretty much guaranteed to be wet.
Fist 666
i originally hail from sunnier places, but i do love washington sometimes even in the heaviest of rains. the camera (with me as its controller) doesn't capture a hundredth of how big and green this place is. often times when you get out of the car your eyes take a couple minutes to adjust to the overwhelming green these are from a couple weeks back, had mixed weather through out the day, but it was gorgeous through all of it. quick pull off at lake crescent a view over the lake get to la push and its raining and real foggy, the usual experience roots overgrowing old driftwood. this seaweed brought its anchor rock with it cool texture on big ass wood trees growing from old stumps this is called second beach, about 20 minutes from la push, plus a mile or two hike in windswept trees

Fist 666
neato! its hard to see here, but these young trees are growing from the sides of huge living trees, the seeds germinate in the rough bark practically ever inch of earth is covered with live here bright orange mushroom, i have to assume this would kill you
Fist 666
a quick stop on a highway 101 pullout south of forks, near ruby beach looking off the sea cliff thanks for looking!

smallmiracles
Absolutely gorgeos, fist 666. Looks very much like a real rainforest, all this fresh green and omg... I have to look at those photographs stuck in the office with only clouds to look at through the window. So not fair. :)
Fist 666
it is a temperate rainforest, meaning it gets at least 140 inches annually
