THANKYOU
hey, has anyone here ever delt with sata hard drives? i have my main hard drive is a "ide" obviously... and then i have two sata hard drives each 200gb a piece. i tried to hook it up in some sort of raid 1 or raid 0... but it keeps fucking up. the tech nerd at the store said it might have been because my xp pro didnt have the service pack 2 on there before i installed the hard drives. is that true? should i just reformat the computer and start over again? shits hella pissing me off. like every now and again i get the blue error screen when windows first turns on, saying it needs to run scan check or whatever on the sata hard drives... which is some bullshit because when i was on the computer surfing the net an shit, it wasnt fucking up at all... shut down normal and everything... and finally, my last question is can i have two hard drives that are sata hard drives but have them running without any raid? any help is much appreciated... MrChupacabra
If you don't mind me inquiring, why would you ever need 400+gb of space all running at once? I mean, i can understand people who do video editing and other stuff like that who have massive amounts of files, but i don't really see the reasoning behind needing two 200gb harddrives hooked up to your personal computer at the same time. THANKYOU
Originally posted by LENS@Nov 19 2005, 02:17 PM tease, i thought you worked with computers Quoted post i do work with computers, selling them. you dont have to be a rocket scientist to sell them, that would be tech support which i dont do. and to MrChupacabra: I have a shit load of pictures, music files, and i am looking to get into video editing soon as well as recording tv shows on to my computer through my tv tuner and then burning them on to a dvd. this new computer was ideally built to perform for the next couple years down the line ya know? hence why i went a little overboard... im also not doing any porn or any music downloading on this one to prevent as much as possible from getting spyware or virus's on it. seeking
dudes point is that you don't need 400gb of storage space at any and all times. you should get a mac, everything just magically works.

Quoted post Yes and yes. I'm just saying there is most likely never going to be a time that you're going to need both of those 200gb hard drives hooked up at the same time. Even if you are doing video projects, just keep all of the files for that project on the same hard drive. If you can get it to work with only one hooked up at a time, i wouldn't even bother trying to get it set up for both. Just keep the important shit on your computer's hard drive, then you don't need to worry about constantly swapping out the two externals. THANKYOU
so chupa can i run just one single sata hard drive and have it work properly?
MrChupacabra
i don't know, i was asking you if it was working when you only were running one and not working when you ran two or if it just wasn't working in general. I don't really know anything about raid or sata hard drives, so i'm probably not the guy to ask for help in this situation.

mr.yuck
I've been looking at getting one of these external hard drives to copy every album I own, it seems that I have too much to keep track of and may or may not be interested in bootlegging shit to help supply this small town. Are these external drives reliable and if so, what are some names that i should look into? Thanks 12oz.
