    there were a lot of groups that everyone loved, but the main ones that influenced everything in the eighties were def leppard, van halen, motley crue, and ozzy. the whole glam rock thing in the eighties was a "sellout" version of seventies punk bands like Iggy and the Stooges, New York Dolls, even the Ramones) while heavy metal was influenced primarily by black sabbath.
