Hey man, jsut a little request; A lot of people refer to the older, more traditional no negative boston style, but what I've seen has either been in the last year or two. A lot of people refer to it as being the original style unique to Boston and I'm just curious as to where this style comes from. if you have any examples or whatever, I'd be highly appreciative. He's currently blowing up like a hot air balloon in the "real" art world. That CHEAT is probably ten years old. That MASS and JAYROC is about 16... yep, North Station. as for the painter naming it, last time I heard MASS is in prison, so he's out... JAYROC's around though... It's not impossible to paint the T, it's just nearly impossible to have the cars run. TARGET SA and SEMY had the only running car I ever saw in person. On the Orange Line. It ran 'til the afternoon rush hour. THE ZEALOT Posted July 13, 2001 Share Posted July 13, 2001 from what i understand, KURSE was one of the main originators with the no neg style. along with ALERT, and ALONE. i think they may have be the most influential in that particular style. with the rest of the ODDCK crew putting in work on their own and getting fresh results, they put a whole twist on boston graffiti. that wasnt the end though. that same demented creativity went into all the throw ups, and handstyles too. they influeced some of the connecticut IMOK guys (GAZE EMIT.....GAZE was actualy in 5AV at one point.)early on and also people like SIEK and KURSE from KM crew out in DCBaltimore. things kind of fell apart...people moved and changed up style. now the only thing left of that style are the kids trying to carry it on today and a few of those kids doing some derivatives. i have some damn good flicks to post but im never around a scanner. maybe ill get to it if cathartic can dig up that KURSE carpet building no neg...real old. classic. I was thinking of the Alone stuff I've seen, one really old Cheat piece too, an orange one on the Porter Tracks as far as no negatives go. I'm also curious as to Boston's use of symbols for throw ups, ie, older eyes and question marks, popsicles and at one point, the infamous screw. I saw this sort of revamped with Kys's sickle throw like a year ago. I know who did all the other ones, but I'll keep my mouth shut. If anyone has any information on that to quench my curiosity, I'd be super appreciative. I've been fucking sweating over these no negatives for a while now. Again, thanks to Cathartic...
