Guest bar101e Posted October 23, 2003 Share Posted October 23, 2003 josh martinez is sick, chilled out, and buck 65 has a really good flavor, went to see both in concert and were truly amazing.some boys from van-city are making it big soon, promise on that, toronto is so big now, thesis sahib is pretty dope, underground as fuck but any of the anticon records kids have mad style when it comes to abstract hip hop.skratch bastid is a coming up d.j. that kills the halifax scene, lots of other locals from hali that have mad talent, k-os was crazy good in concert, acoustic hip-hop was definatly incredible to watch and the guy is brilliant.just take a gander into classified or prolific and you will be impressed too.shit, the list is infinite. ment2 Posted October 23, 2003 Share Posted October 23, 2003 i'll be the first to say i think buck 65's style is garbage. he has some good lyrics but i just think he spits them all quiet-nerd style because he cant pull them off with a good style. its just my opinion, but... its like, anyone can rap with a quiet nerd voice, in my opinion it takes a little more to be able to pull off a sort of more hyped-up delivery with some energy. none of this would matter if i thought his music sounded good, but i think its annoying and, frankly, its for girls. and while im being contradictive, i thought swollen members first album was good. everything since is garbage, but oh well. Guest BROWNer Posted October 24, 2003 Share Posted October 24, 2003 oh man, swollen membs opened for avril?? pff..i saw a quick piece of some video of them, one of them was on a boat with his shirt off and with a bunch of half naked models jigglin' about.. i don't know, i can't stand them. even when they were 'underground' i thought they were mediocre.. but i guess they are gettin' paid now. thesis..i haven't heard any of his newer shit, but his voice is seriously annoying. acquired taste for sure. p&c have good samples and beats. i heard josh martinez for the first time last week.. i liked it, although some of the production i didn't really dig, but other tracks were good. i like his voice and style for the most part. i think the best canadian shit i've heard, which isn't much, would be martinez..doesn't seem like he's had a hiphop lobotomy yet.
