Weapon X
It's wierd. The term will perhaps send comsumerism amongst affluent teenagers, and crime amongst poor youth soar to new heights. Or maybe now that it's in the dictionary, rap videos will change, and the way things are right now won't be cool anymore.
RumPuncher
All this bling talk makes me feel old. I despise diamonds and all they stand for, and it makes me angry to see people buying fake ice to try to claim some bullshit status. Ok foolio... take that fake silver chain and wear it UNDER your jacket. I've really seen kids wearing the chains on top of parkas.

Weapon X
I read in some science news a while ago that there may be "diamond storms" going on in the atmosphere of Venus. That would be amazing to mine. Kilo, I know what you're talking about. Remember, I was still in high school last year. It's ridiculous what you see in those hallways. and yoink, i hope you saw that in xs size in chinatown or something.

!@#$%
why is everyone complaining?? Language Changes ..ever read original shakespeare? some of it is tough to understand...and that was considered english back then or what about Beowulf..written in the original english..impossible to comprehend language shifts with many things..politics, demographics, culture, etc do not fear change it will follow us to our graves in Pre-Calculus we learned a really fucking cool formula..prolly the only 'cool' formula i ever saw..it was a string of polynomials plugging in certain values would lead to the answer of WHAT PERCENTAGE OF LANGUAGE WOULD CHANGE OVER X NUMBER OF YEARS.. as in how many words would disappear completely and either be replaced by new words, or eliminated from lingo completely, and what number of totally new words would come into existence.. it was rather astounding what the predictions said about language.. basically that if you left earth for 100 years and returned, people that spoke what had been your native language would practically be speaking an entirely new language.. RumPuncher
^ you've got some very good points !@#$ My issue (and complaint) isn't about how language changes but about the fact that it seems to change for the worse. 'I ain't got no bling bling' should never be recognized as proper. I guess I'm a little old fashioned about the use of language, but I just find it's incredibly important to know the differences between proper grammar, regional dialects and subcultural slang. Only when you understand the rules can you get really creative with the other elements of the spoken word. What's next ? 'naaawwhymean'
!@#$%
true true it's unfortunate that in this case, change seems to equal dumbing down. i see knowhatimsayin in print as a word sometimes, and it is sad..i recall when some school systems had the fucking balls to consider teaching in 'ebonics' the only way to fight the dilution of our culture is to have kids and teach them.. propally i mean properly or we can just vurn the whole shitbag to the ground:eek:
Guest imported_El Mamerro
It's pretty damn relative... I can definitely envision similar disgust among the educated when abbreviations came along ages ago. I mean, are we really so lazy and stupid that we have to say "isn't" instead of "is not"? It's actually even harder to write, yet we still do.
RumPuncher
I guess when I was growing up my parents taught me to say 'yes' instead of 'yeah'. Sure it's a very simple example, but I think they understood that having a working understanding of proper language, not to mention good manners, can be a huge benefit later in life. Thanks Mom, Thanks Dad.
