They are great for buisness use but not that practical for personal use. The web browser is lame and instant messaging is a pain in the ass. The best thing is has going for it is that you can hook it up with your outlook. I have the sidekick 2 now and for personal use, I find it much more practical. Not to mention it is a little cheaper. If you're a rich and powerfull person you probably get 50 emails a day and are constantly in and out of meetings. You spend 80 hours a week working and dont have time to chase any tail or do anything relaxing. I rarely use it, and if I do, 99% of the time it's work related. I have the cheapest plan and still if my minutes rolled over, I would have enough for the afterlife of a drama queen. I am more interested in getting a more powerful computer right now that I can do CG on with less fear of crashing. Oh, and if you are looking for software, check out some torrents.
