so for the last month or so ive been seeing adds on tv for beapilot.com, explaining how easy it is to get a pilots license. I cant think this is a good thing.

What it Means to Be a Pilot

You take-off to wide-open skies in any direction on the compass. While there are some restricted areas for military or security purposes, and air traffic areas requiring a call to air traffic control, non-scheduled General Aviation can take you where you want to go. It’s truly "random-access" transportation.

 

You Must...

 

1....be at least 16.

2....speak English.

3....pass a basic medical exam.

That's all. If you meet these requirements, you can fly. (You can actually fly at any age, but you must be 16 to solo). You don't have to be John Glenn or Chuck Yeager, just a regular guy.

 

In fact, you don't have to be a guy at all. Female pilots have been around since the Wright Brothers and today are an ever growing segment of the pilot population.

What's so wierd about that. Just because someone takes a few lessons doesn't guarantee they'll become a certified pilot.

there was a bloke that used to work here who could fly fighter jets and choppers and all kinds of crazy shit in the air force. he works in intelligence or something now. i'd always be like "what are you doing this weekend?" "oh, just flying the wife and kids over to new zealand for the weekend". crazy. it was just like getting in the car and driving down the street to him

a couple of my friends are pilots. and they didn't get licensed from there... flying is so much fun. when my boy b was getting his license and needed hours, we would fly places just to go out for lunch. it was fucking sweet.

Did you look at the website?It's not a flight school. All they do is list flight schools.

nah the shits real, u get a first lesson for somthin like 49$. . . . its the cubic zirconia of deals. Most flight schools offer low intro flights.

I took my first 3 for 150$, that was years ago, now i have around 33 hrs

now the lessons are bout 140$ an hr, that includes instructor time, fuel, and rental of the plane.

What kind of airplane was it?

Avgas is expensive as a motherfucker. The aiport over here has JET A at over $4.00 a gallon.

jet A is less expensive than 100 octane, jet A runs $2.99 here, 100 is $3.35 a gallon.

There seems to be this big idea that light planes are dangerous and that the people who fly them don't know how to fly. It's really not that dangerous.

one of my relatives is a pilot and has a couple stunt planes. I've been meaning to email him about going up and getting some pics.
