Jake Stevens Posted September 10, 2004 Share Posted September 10, 2004 the story is.. i got a dell computer and the cd drive is broken... i was given a cd-rw drive that is also made by dell.. will i need anything to install it? or will the computer accept it by its self?? thanks in advance.. Abracadabra Posted September 10, 2004 Share Posted September 10, 2004 Originally posted by one what would you recomend? im buyin a laptop for college?? don't buy off a production line. go to a small shop that will build it specifically for you and will test it before handing it over to you. it will cost a little bit more, but if you pay peanuts you get monkeys, so fork it over. these dell's, gateway's, hp's and all these other pre-made package deals come off a production line and are delivered to your house without having even been turned on once. quality control in these places specifies that maybe only one in a hundred, or one in a thousand (it will vary from company to company) will actually be started up and tested. i can't tell you the amount of people i have spoken to that have bought a package over the phone or internet or something where windows wouldn't even start up the first time they turned it on.
