Tits, DSM, TGB, DTC, FTL, CMA, BH, and a ton of others got their starts there and brought it to the steel, streets of their own cities, and other larger cities. For a city of it's size Santa Cruz has been pretty well painted in the past, and the surrounding freight spots got crushed. Judging by what I've seen on the net the liberals went fascist and have called for a graffiti free Santa Cruz. So much for free thought. Anyways yeah, the city recently buffed out even the legal pieces, which was basically all there was to sc's graff scene to begin with. It was by no means like what San Francisco was at that time but it was getting well painted and there were lots of tags. BWS wall had new stuff all the time too.
