Guest post.
This movie started out dope! I was really into all the blood and violence and rawness of the whole first third of the movie, but I lost interest during the supermodel dramatic section of the movie. I did have a few laughs when you think that the rats ate her dog.
Guest post.
The dead dogs in that movie looked so real. It made me wonder about production standards in Mexico. :-D

Guest imported_El Mamerro
Bump a year later for a quick heads-up... You guys may already have heard about it, but Iñarritu's new movie, "21 grams" debuted at the Venice Film Festival to a humongous standing ovation. Everyone seems to agree that it rocked their faces just as hard as "Amores Perros" did. Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro. I'm pretty amped... comes out in November I believe. Guest chicken bone
I have Amores Perros.. Its fresh.. Very stylish and very involving to the point of intensity. The girl was sooo pretty too (not the supermodel girl, but the other one who is married to the main characters brother). Thanks for the heads up Mammerro, can't wait to see Iñarritu's new stuff.. Guest chicken bone
And on another note, I just watched "Hable Con Ella (Talk to Her)". Kind of unrelated except that its also a Spanish speaking movie. Highly recommended... Kind of upset me through with its conflicting situations. The filmmaker leaves a lot for the viewer to decide. http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00005JLQW.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg'> A very clever and engaging movie... Flawless. I found Leonor Watling to be absolutely gorgeous, which made the movie even more disturbing. http://www.christoph-jochems.de/film_2002/son_de_mar/foto.jpg'> The pic doesn't do her justice. Poop Man Bob
Also recommended: Spellbound A documentary that follows 8 competitors in the National Spelling Bee. It provides a great cross-section of American life while showing the ways that the kids (and parents) prepare for the Bee. It culminates at the actual Bee, which provides a hell of a lot more drama than one would normally ascribe to something that mundane. Great movie. shaolinmasta
Just watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre for the first time and i am deeply disturbed to think that it is based on a true story, how the fuck can people get themselves to that state? I realise that it was the family that caused it but you have to be pretty sick to wear a mask of someones skin and chase people through the woods with a chainsaw blaring in your hands. it is a very good movie though. would of started off the horror movies and shit. Watched it last night...its weird to describe, the easthetics and the mood was fuckin awesome...the women in there and all that sexual atmosphere pinned me down for the most part....i dont wanna believe that i'm so sexist like that but to be honest the scenario was a bit loose to keep me going. Definatelly a good watch...and definatelly one of the hotest girls i've ever encountered. http://www.noticine.com/noticine/images_ftp/album/fotos/luciapres02.jpg'> http://www.alrededores.com/entrevistas/images/elenaanaya.jpg'>
Guest imported_El Mamerro
Aw man, didn't dig it too much? Damn, it seems as if almost everyone I recommend it to isn't too thrilled. I don't know why, but that movie left me hypnotized. It's a bit garbled, but the ending for me was so smooth and satisfying... and the end seems to be what most people don't like. Kind of like "25th Hour". It's also extremely sexual, which can be off-putting and to some degree distracting. Nobody likes to see mud-covered boners. Anyways, I guess I'll take that off the list of recommendations and keep it in the personal delight stash. I caught "Winged Migration" last month. It has some camera work that completely made me shit myself. All the time I was watching I could only think one thing: "How the fuck do they shove a camera so damn close to a goose's face while it's fucking FLYING?" I swear, I'm almost convinced that it's some sort of "Blair Witch" type deal, where the producers told everyone that there's no computer effects, but in fact all of it is CGI. That said, the movie is pretty long and repetitive, and an overload of absolutely stunning shots kinda washes out their impact throughout the film. After an hour of birds, there's... more birds. And then some more birds. And birds. It requires a fair degree of patience to sit through.
Guest BROWNer
mamsz..i kind of expected to see that but hoped there would be a bit more focus on some gorgeous landscapes from the bird's view to spice it up. i should still see it though? sex and lucia...i tried to think what it was last night, and i think it was the over abundance of teasing/titillating sex scenes. i guess it was pretty integral to the whole vibe/story, but i think the problem i have with that is that there was alot of it, and that i usually find sex scenes in movies to be a pretty useless device. a bit of a waste of time, usually quite pointless, and always unsatisfying in a teasing way. just a bunch of jumbled and quick edited shadowy skin shots with two heads going at it. actually, around here a big complaint of matrix2 was the sex scene. anyhow, i don't know if that is really a legitimate critique. poop man-o, spellbound is another one i scoped that's coming to town. i'll go see it now. Hahahaha..dude that was fuckin gross..still i was so delighted to see extremely hot women masturbating that it didnt matter at all....The sexual part could be distracting but in my opinion it was the strongest thing in the movie. I'm not saying that porno style...i mean that it was a great sexual movie. After all its named sex and lucia...wtf? I think your relationship with the language may made it even better for you..it always does..and i agree the ending was peacefull
