Guest imported_El Mamerro
The Edge's riff's on the Zoo TV version of "Mysterious Ways" kills all of the ones on their albums. But albumwise, I'd say "Bullet the Blue Sky". <Edit: I mentioned "Please" for its solo, which is not a riff... Substitute with "Gloria".> Motley Crüe's "Kickstart my Heart" is quite fantabulous too. bodice_ripper
yeah, I just thought the Zootv version of a song might be a bit obscure for a graf board, silly me................... Bullet the Blue Sky is fucking brilliant, live and on the album

Cracked Ass
Smoke on the Water is pretty much mandatory for anyone learning guitar. (Highway to Hell, the first riff I ever learned, is also up there.) It's not feasible to give an unbiased answer, so I nominate "Revolve" by the Melvins. didomatic
Is it just me or has this thread sort of wandered off the point a bit??? Tuesday's gone- lynard skynard ( check out the end of "dazed and confused") anything by rage against the machine, placebo, pixies and radiohead deserves a mention also the riff from plug in baby (muse) kicks very large amounts of ass:D

garcia_vega
hendrix. basically anything he played that wasn't a solo was the best riffs ever, and then everything else he played was the best solos ever. motorhead--ace of spades. i'll agree with that pixies choice. the ramones--proving you only need to know 3 chords if you play them right. fr8oholic
big take over -bad brains. on banned in dc you can hear those chords roar without the use of a metal zone. a little fuzz and a lwhole otta gain with the standard issue 'super fast' strumming is quite nice...
