RumPuncher
Canadian Politicshttp://www.whybiotech.com/html/images/can.gif'> First off, let me just say that with only a few exceptions, the Canadians on this fourm seem to be up.to.date on their politics. Sure JaZe was in the dark about life itself, but we tend to really get involved in all of the 'american political threads'.so how about one for OUR current 'situation'? For those who dont know; Canada is about to have a very important federal election in 5 days. (june 28) This is going to be a major change for us and we might have 4 years of minority gov't. so many things can change... very exciting. side note: (to paraphrase the canuck -lovin' Michael Moore) Most Americans can't tell you who is the current president of Mexico (or Prime Minister of Canada). How do you think they feel about that in europe? Not knowing the leader of the country next to you? Seems a little self centered to me and probably not in the best interest of your country. Weapon X
I will be voting Liberal. I don’t trust Jack Layton to be running this country, and I damn sure as hell hate Stephen Harper. That dude has the Waldorf haircut, first of all. Second, he has been showing his true colours (or should I say ‘colors’) lately. Speaking of Michael Moore, there was an interview with him on the front page of the Star the other day, where he told Canadians that they should consider NOT voting for the Conservative party, because Bush would be throwing a party if Harper gets elected. I’ll be voting and hoping come the 28th.

Guest
Layton's wife (all of you should know who she is) is running in my area so she's getting the vote for sure. She is one of the best local politicians this city has ever seen.
SteveAustin
yo key...I met some girl from round your way last night. She was telling us about shit in Canada that we probably didn't hear about in the states. One was some deal about a pot farm disquised as a brewery...complete with cubicles. she talked a bit about politics as well...but quite frankly...I was lit and don't really remember much. Guest
news: In 2000 and 2001 Molson breweries underwent some fairly major restructuring, some of which was reported on this site. They bought back the 49% share of the company formerly owned by Cooper's of Australia, bought Brazilian Kaiser Brewery, and closed down several major operations in Canada, consolidating their brewing. Today Police raided the massive former Molson brewery in Barrie Ontario, which was closed in 2000. It seems the plant had gone from making Coors, to making Bud. And we do not mean the stuff made famous by Anheuser-Busch! In a joint operation of the Ontario Provincial Police and Barrie Police Service, thousands of pot plants were seized in this community about an hour north of Toronto. And thousands more were seized from a nearby building. With more than 60,000 square feet the operations were larger than a football field, and even included dormitory quarters for up to 50 workers. Total street value of the crop was estimated at $30 million. Nine people were arrested on-site in what is being described as the largest grow operation bust in Canadian history. effyoo
I was wondering what the other Canuckleheads thought on this issue. Seeing that I've been to lazy to vote in the past, I want to make sure that my support goes to someone who deserves it. I was considering voting Liberal, but I think the NDP will get my vote. Conservative is out of the question. Harper would jump in bed with Bush faster than Tony Blair did.

Weapon X
I saw a mock Cribs episode on her apartment. She comes off as very boring to me. Or maybe she’s just really dumb. It’s all good voting for NDP, but the way I see it, why vote Green when we have NDP? Even though it’s pretty much guaranteed they won’t be at the helm, nor in the opposition, I won’t vote for them. Strictly because I actually think Paul Martin is the man, and the Conservatives are the Bush’s bitches. I can’t understand that ‘child porn’ attack on Martin, neither. At least Martin thinks before he speaks, weighs the issues, etc.
Guest
thing is: for our city ****** **** is one of the best politicans we've ever had and she HAS to get elected in her new riding. so yeah... as a reader of NOW and FRANK... I have to go with her.
Weapon X
No doubt, we need more politicians like her. Isn’t it a guarantee she’ll win, pretty much?

ASER1NE
Its all aboot the NDP , their platform is so much more solid that the liberals , and the conservatives licka nut sack . We were all about the ndp for like 10 years , then we went liberal and shits hit the fan for the last 10 .....So back to basics .
Guest
yeah.... I just dont know how the conservatives are pulling into a soft second spot. last time for the provincial elections I voted green just because the liberal in my zone was in for sure. I just wanted to let the greens know that some people care about a party with a 'no-littering' policy. I never heard Miguinty talking about litter. Dr. Dazzle
I'll be voting NDP, even though I'm pretty sure it will be the Liberals who win. It would be awesome if Layton won, but I guess I'd rather have Martin than Harper. If Steven Harper wins., I'm moving..... I can't believe that the Conservatives have as much support as they do (if the pools are to be believed, anyway). Their entire platform is built on out-of-date values, bowing down to America, and hypocrisy. How can you lower taxes, then increase the military budget by billions at the same time? Can't people see that one of those things isn't going to happen? And you can bet it won't be the military.....
Ski Mask
I'm obviously voting NDP. Layton is a fuck of a lot smarter than people give him credit for. Its amazing how short sighted people are politically in this country. the NDP wont have as much success here in BC as it should, simply because of the last NDP provincial government was so hated (ironic footnote: 3 key NDP players in those governments are running as liberals this election). Do people even think about parties anymore? Every time I see a swing voter on TV talking about not voting liberal, and being unable to decide ndp or conservative, it makes my head hurt! do you not have an idea where you stand in the left-right spectrum? your choice should be obvious. its like the fucking twilight zone this year....commercials by CONSERVATIVES that show them taking a liberal hand out of the cookie jar? these are fucking torries people! they are the original kings of patronage, cronyism, and all around corruption! did you fall on your head and forget anything that happened more than 4 years ago? oh wait, you would still remember harris, that cant be it....what is it then? shit. way to get me worked up. Guest
thanks ese! we need to get worked up over this. I just read today that Martin has said that who ever gets the most seats wins. The Libs and the Cons are both at 33% of the vote right now so no one is looking at an easy majority. I dont see why Martin would put that out there since the NDP would cleary vote with the liberals just to nix any Condervative ideas. Maybe he's trying to get some 'good sportsmanship' votes? Weapon X
I’ve been reading similar articles in the papers. Exactly what you said, ese. People can’t decide between Tories and NDPers. Makes no sense, whatsoever. Actually, I got a phone call from this guy I know the other day. He is, without a doubt, one of the dumbest people I know. Not only is he dumb, but he is one of those dump people who think they’re very smart, like their opinion counts for anything. He says to me, “Fuck the Liberals, man – Paul Martin is a snake!” I reply that he is probably right about Martin, but what makes him say this? He says, “Yo, all that sponsorship scandal shit, man!” I ask him if he even knows what the sponsorship scandal is, and he finally admits to me that he doesn’t, but he knows it’s bad. So buddy has decided to vote Conservative. I believe that the fact the “sponsorship scandal” was on the front page of the newspapers for so long that people just blindly hate the Liberal party, even if they never even read the articles. The power of the headline can be mindblowing.

bigpoppa.k
all you guys voting ndp might want to re-consider. voting for ndp as opposed to liberal is in essence giving the PC's an extra vote. if most people do this, you just might be electing the PC's in through the backdoor.. not good. i generally vote green or ndp, but i'm going liberal for the pure sake of not letting those fuckin PC fucktards in.. Guest
yes and no however for me it's as simple as this: Olivia Chow is one of the BEST politicans out there now. Me voting for anyone but her would be retarded. Plus she's Jack Layton's wife, so my hood might get some perks if he gets some clout on parliment hill.
