i used to have an impressive collection dating way back, thanks

to my gramps, but sadly the majority of them got filthy with a serious

mold problem i had at this shit hole house that had a flooded

basement. many insane photos were lost. i used to cut up

national geographics for collage.

My father has been collecting since the 1960's. We have a pretty decent collection in the basement. I read the National Geographic every month, normally. Lately, though, I've been three months behind. We just got the new issue delivered to our home a few days ago.

National Geographic gets much love.

My grandfather has a collection that he has had running for a while, they were nice to look through on the trips up there when I was younger. I've got a subscription now, but they haven't gotten me an issue since my last address change. Bastards.

The big ass books they used to put out (may stil) are cool too. I have one detailing China & the surrounding areas. Can't say enough about the photos.

i'm focused moreso on the towns you'd never think exist and the ways of life of the people inside them. forget underage tribal porn for a minute. when was the last time you saw a burly man standing proud with speargun in hand, trusty dog at his side, and a "keep on whaling" t-shirt? i'm talking about the people who invented the trucker hat, trend-sters.

You should have posted this a few days earlier. I have been cleaning out this dead guys house and sent his 300 or so national geographic magazines straight to hell. I would have sent them to you for cost of postage. If i find any more boxes of them i will send them your way.

This guy used to be an art conservator for a llocal museum and he has so much art in his house. Today we found two iron french tables from the 1800's and some early pilgrim furniture. I'll take some pictures of the storage rooms to give you an idea of what we have been taking out of his house. It's really cool. I know that about the magazines sucks but my boss told me to throw them out and i didn't have any room in my house to save them. We have one store room full of wall apneling and molding from the 1800's. It's massive.

Today i found an old mink shawl that has the heads and everthing. It's mine now. Plus my boss told me i could take all of the old blank canvases and his oil paint home with me. I'll keep as much shit as possible and hold a 12oz auction for it.

National Geographic used to be one of my favorite magazines ever until this winter.

They published an article in February I believe about the state of my homeland, Puerto Rico, and though the photos were gorgeous and the story was gripping, it was a gross distortion and manipulation of the truth in the name of intriguing journalism. They lost a lot of credibility in my eyes, since now I can't read another article without wondering if they're doing to other countries the disservice they did to ours.

I still count on them to deliver good articles and gorgeous pictures about nature in general, but from a social journalism standpoint, I have lost a lot of faith.

there was one from 1979 about the discovery of King Tut.

I read that thing over and over for many years of my youth.

I had this one also!

One of the issues came with a square record that had the sounds of whales:

i've got a 4-inch vinyl of whale sounds that came in one issue. shit like that is classic.

I cut it into a circle because I thought a square record wouldn't play.

You have to understand that they talk a lot about the conservation of nature. Then you have to look at the back cover which is likely a Shell advertisement.

you know what's a joke? the shell ad with all the animals. how the fuck are they gonna pull that shit? it's ridiculous. people are morons.

I look at the front inside cover - the Canon page. They are down with the endangered species.

the cover you show is from far more recent. Maybe just a few years ago. I'm tipsy, so I won't remember something like this.

I understand it's a video, but that cover is from '90's.

Really doe, this should be a thread on what issues are everyone's favourite. I have a LOT of favourites, believe me, but one that comes to mind is late eighties'. Arctic Wolves on the cover. What's yours?
