Hello and welcome to another Angry Alan superthread!

Please feel free to listen to some music while browsing through my photographs.

(Right Click, Open In New Window)

A quick introduction;

I am Angry Alan.

I visited Puerto Rico with my other half, Jim, from July 26th to August 2nd.

We stayed at a friends condo for free.

Lucky us.

Let us begin, shall we?

Wednesday, July 26th, 2006

1.jpg

We popped a tire around 1am right outside EWR.

It's still 80°+ outside.

3.jpg

I fixed the tire and for some reason Jim is still on the phone.

We arrive at our hotel only to discover that one of the rear windows will not go up, AT ALL.

4.jpg

Past 2am.

Tired and unhappy.

5.jpg

Less than four hours of sleep later, we are on our way to Puerto Rico.

9.jpg

_

11.jpg

Mad bored.

13.jpg

We made it.

14.jpg

Nice view, no?

2.jpg

Waterproof camera.

4.jpg

5.jpg

6.jpg

7.jpg

30.jpg

After a little bit of sun and swimming we get some local beer and food.

31.jpg

Walk around, catch some graff and apparently porn.

33.jpg

Night comes.

Time to unwind.

2.jpg

Wake up to some variable clouds and drizzle.

We met up with some of Jim's friends and got some fried foods and hit up a mall.

4.jpg

Drunkard.

Didn't do much else, save for some food shopping for the duration of our stay.

So, we decided to go for a walk on the beach at night.

3.jpg

Visited Old San Juan.

The weather held out and was only party cloudy at times.

6.jpg

Couldn't pass up the American Apparel store.

7.jpg

Nice.

11.jpg

The fort San Felipe del Morro.

13.jpg

Contrast.

18.jpg

We did a ton of walking.

19.jpg

Lonely fucker.

21.jpg

Haze.

24.jpg

I have no idea what's going on here.

27.jpg

A very colorful city.

31.jpg

Two things I love.

35.jpg

We discovered this random hotel and I noticed there was a grand piano.

So I started playing.

40.jpg

After Old San Juan, Jim and I headed to the Hilton for some giant seafood buffet.

41.jpg

Afterwards we waited for El Mamerro to call back for a quick drink.

Eventually he showed up and we had a good chat.

We decided to all hit up the PR Rainforest, El Yunque the next day.

42.jpg

Spotted on the way back to the condo.

1.jpg

A wee bit overcast and some rain at times.

Fucking perfect for a rainforest.

2.jpg

Probably taking a MySpace photo.

El Mamerro, and little bro, arrive around noon and we head to El Yunque.

3.jpg

Perveract!

After a (sort-of) long hike, we converge at La Mina Falls.

6a.jpg

La Mina Falls, El Yunque Panoramic.

9.jpg

You can pretty much drink anywhere in PR.

Driving, walking, beaching...

The proper etiquette is that it's not in glass bottles.

10.jpg

Guess who.

11.jpg

Holy shit!

I caught Mamerro not making a face!

I win $1,000,000!!!

12.jpg

Chillin.

12.jpg

More waterproof camera.

13.jpg

14.jpg

13.jpg

Jim does the buddah.

15.jpg

Looking down on something familiar.

17.jpg

We hit a massive pothole on the way up the mountain.

Mamzor's hubcap flew off and he bent his wheel/rim slightly.

18.jpg

19.jpg

On the ride back to Isla Verde (and Pinones for food) we saw two crazy-ass things.

(All happened too fast to get my camera.)

1) A small pick up truck with a full size horse standing in the back, traveling down the road.

2) A cow falling from a twenty foot cliff next to the highway while others tried not to slip.

25.jpg

Back at the condo watching some heat lightning.

23.jpg

Beat that.

1.jpg

We were out drinking until 4am with Jim's friends.

3.jpg

Afterwards we crashed at their treehouse on the other side of El Yunque.

2.jpg

Their bathroom only has one wall.

The rest is forest.

The reason for the overnight stay was to be closer to the town of Fajardo and the ferry that goes to Culebra Island.

5.jpg

Around 11am, we make it to Playa Flamenco, Culebra Island.

One of the worlds most beautiful beaches.

7.jpg

Not my handiwork.

11.jpg

Look familiar?

17.jpg

Even more waterproof camera.

18.jpg

24.jpg

This island was amazing.

If we ever go back to PR, we are more than certain we'll stay here for most of the trip.

Monday, July 31st, 2006

Didn't do much this day.

Jim and I were both sunburned from Culebra Island, so we didn't want to move much.

1.jpg

Sucks, becuase the weather was great.

3.jpg

So, we hit up the mall again becuase I wanted to buy some shoes.

8-8-06b.jpg

And so I did.

4.jpg

Woop woop.

5.jpg

Around sunset we decided to head to the Water Club, a bar/sushi place right down the block from where we were staying.

1.jpg

Purdy outside.

Great for a trip to the Bacardi distillery.

2.jpg

$.75 bus ride to Old San Juan.

3.jpg

The tour is free, the drinks are free.

4.jpg

5.jpg

Being jackasses.

7.jpg

After the tour you're taken to the gift shop (of course) and drink pavillion where you get the free drinks.

Each person gets two free drink tickets.

Tip:

Throw the bartender a fiver and you'll get an endless supply of drinks.

15.jpg

Bored and waiting for the ferry back to Old San Juan.

16.jpg

Where we stayed in Isla Verde (not Torres' Place).

I have no idea who that dude is.

17.jpg

Jim and I meet up with his friends again to the Water Club.

19.jpg

24.jpg

Nice place.

Expensive, but nice.

22.jpg

Nice view.

27.jpg

29.jpg

In "full nerd" mode, as Jim would say.

My argyle socks are all the way up.

2.jpg

Sadly, it is time to head home.

5.jpg

Amazingly, it was nice and cool in Puerto Rico the whole week.

Compared to back home in Philly, where it was over 100°.

4.jpg

In flight magazine.

6.jpg

As soon as we arrive back in Newark, NJ, we had to rush to a tire repair center.

8-3-06c.jpg

Here's the culprit.

This fucking thing flew up off the road and made a five inch gash in the rear tire of Jim's Jeep.

Fuck you EWR.

All in all it was quite a memorable trip.

I would recommend anyone visit Puerto Rico in a heartbeat.

I would like to thank El Mamerro for his generosity.

Thanks for driving Jim and I around.

I need to get in touch with you on a thank you gift, too.

The 'beat that' picture is wild. And all those upside-down T's look sorta like weiners.. which is pretty appropriate.

Awesome flicks. Awesome thread. Looks like a blast.

Approved.

Simply

Fucking

Amazing

Dude, you got fucking skills with a camera. I am in awe of how fucking good these shots came out. Also, I now have a much better idea of how that bald spot on the back of my head is coming along. Thanks!

Man, good to see the weather smoothed up for a couple of days, I was seriously bummed that you guys would have to endure straight up shittiness all week, it's been an abnormally rainy summer.

I was fucking exhausted that weekend, not to mention full of work the rest of the week... I really wish I could've hung out a lot more and taken you guys to other places, but it looks like you guys had a lot of fun anyhows. I told you Culebra fucking crushed, that place is the shit. You could spend your entire vacation there and not run out of things to do, I plan on retiring there once I'm old and/or rich. And your friends' pad looks fucking sweet as hell, I've never seen a jungle bathroom that wasn't just some clear spot behind a bush.

Good shit man, you gotta come back one day. And don't sweat the thank you gift, taking visitors around is mandatory in PR, we get thrown in jail if we don't. As a matter of fact, I'm on probation for not taking you to enough places.

Haha.

I took over 500 photos that week.

That's actually pretty weak compared to what I usually take one some weekends.

Then again, I didn't have my Nikon handy on certain days or occasions.

A few of those are camera phone pics.

I thought the weather was perfect for most of the trip.

It seemed as though each day had it's perfect fitting weather.

I do owe you for driving us around. My plan was to make you a special edition hat.

Which ever color scheme you wanted, I would print up just one.

So, name the colors.
