  1. Heh, never mind that a lot of the voting-age people in this country (especially those just turning 18) have the political awareness of pond scum. Perhaps they may vote more liberal than the plague of old people we have here (especially in my state), but seriously, a lot of them don't want to vote, and can't afford not to. (the rich can just pay the fine) What benefit does a bunch of Year-10 dropouts donkey-voting on the ballot do, really? As far as the movie goes, Australia shall not be graced with it's presence for another few weeks... So I shall wait and see. As far as Michael Moore goes (I own all of his books, and have seen The Awful Truth and Bowling for Columbine), he's biased, he's propagandist, he's left, and he's got a camera. Shit, there's no such thing as pure equality. Take a look at your news and media there (I have). It's biased heavily to the right wing, and frankly a lot of it is pure bullshit. Many of the large networks have connections to politicos, and frankly, it's in their interests (the execs at least) for a conservative government to remain in power, because they reap all of the insane tax benefits the Bush government piles upon them. (trickle down theory my ass. What is it with Americans and tax anyway? You have one of the lowest taxation rates in the world, yet the country is renowned for bitching about it.) Yeah, Mr Moore is biased, but given the political climate at the moment (hell even our PM is in the sack with Bush, and is currently giving us all kinds of benefits-but-not-really-VOTEME!!! at the moment) I think he's having a good impact. He's ripping away the facade that the Bush administration has erected, and it's probably going to benefit the country. Oh, and vote Kerry, for the rest of our benefit. I'm not sure Americans realise just how much their elections affect the rest of us. I'd never expect this kind of political discussion from graffiti artists... :
  2. I'm fortunate enough not to live in the USA... Although our PM is in the sack with Bush and busily attempting to remove our rights... At least we don't have crazy shit like the Patriot Act on our list of laws.
  3. Any sort of manufactured board soaks up paint like crazy... In fact anything that's natural has a tendency to soak up paint. Just use a cheap can of grey primer before you start My reccomendation is to either build a wall (just lean a sheet of board against something if you're lazy) and then coat it with primer... But garden shed walls work too. As for portability, nothing beats a canvas. It rolls up, and particleboard is too bulky and heavy... Canvas is tricky to work with though, but practice and it's not too bad.
  4. Yeah well, now that writers know about it, if you see a flash, duck and cover... We're lucky here, no high-tech security...
  5. If you didn't get caught (which you will), and you didn't slam into a light post and break your hip/leg/spine/face (which you will), and if you could find some rapelling gear including very, very strong magnets (which you won't) then it would get 10 out of 10 for style. The piece or throwy would look like crap because you'd be getting thrown around constantly, but piecing a moving bus would be pretty sick.
  6. Germans make top notch industrials. Have a look at some of the stuff they came up with in the wars, and how fast they cranked the stuff. As far as electronics and high-tech go, they're not doing too well though. : Unless someone ships this stuff to Aus, I don't care, but I may order a handful of montanas, beltons, and this shit just to see how it sizes up to Dulux... As far as the open market goes, the more products on it, the better it is for consumers (i.e. lower prices) due to the competition for business. Hell, look at us, we're behind 3rd world countries as far as internet goes, because we have a single company that controls our communications infrastructure. Although the well established brands will continue to roll, if Blubber is sold at half the price, it will probably make a name for itself, even if it isn't quite as good. Economics... Fun. As far as it being stocked in hardware stores, it's not going to happen. How many hardware stores that you know of would want to encourage graffiti? Hell, most of the ones here get shittily tagged up regular...
  7. I've had that happen to a can before... Paint all over the rim and a hooded cap full of sky-blue paint. In general the USA caps (rustos, NY thins and fats) work great, German outlines seem to work ok, but gold dots and orange dots don't work. Gold dots especially have a 'lag' between when you let go of the cap, and when it stops spitting paint. Plus the lines turn out thicker than a NY thins.
  8. Dulux is probably the best paint you can get without selling a relative... Not such a great colour range (from what I've seen) but at $7 a can, it's not too bad... To get import paints, try: http://www.melbournegraffiti.com/ads/ad4/g.../giant_info.htm No idea if they'd do mail order, but it's worth a try, give em a ring. Oh, and for all the non-aussies, we have male cans here. They've got stalks on the cans, rather than on the caps. There are only 2 local brands (Dulux and Wattyl) that use female cans, and Wattyl is shit. Plus we pay around AU$6 per can even for shit paint. Unless you rack of course... And importing small-scale is too expensive.
