got the schwinn built into a singlespeed. brings me to 3 complete bikes a seven speed bianchi, a trek mountain bike, and the schwinn. going to try and get a singlespeed mountain bike together over the winter.
i just got an old schwinn prelude frame im thinking about converting into a single speed. its got horizontal dropouts so i shouldnt need a chain tensioner. anyone have advice on cheap quick conversions?
i find that carb cleaner does an amazing job on rusty chains. speaking of free trash bikes. i got a motobecane out of a dumpster today. left the wheels they were totally trashed spokes missing/broke. the whole thing needs ripped apart cleaned and put back together.
did a 67 mile ride sunday. the first time i ever rode anything over 20 miles at once. kept up a 17mph avg. it had some nice rolling hills. took about 4 hours.
i got some clipless yesterday. wow what a major difference over some cages. riding my bianchi is like a new world. though i did have one fall tonight...pulling up to a stop light a bit drunk....clipped out on the wrong side leaned over and bam on the ground....im sure many more will come.
