So I've been talking to the mods as well as a handful of members I talk to in real life about the need and plan to draft rules for the community, as well as for specific sections. Likewise, we've also been discussing moderating protocols as a part of that. Anyhow, the community has seen steady growth, which is great. It ebbs and flows, but has been incrementally trending up since we relaunched it about two years ago or so. There's been a few spikes or exponential growth and there's a lot I'm trying to do outside the forum to build up budget to be able to take bigger steps with both the 12ozProphet brand and the forum. That being said, we're also li…

There are a number of threads on this website that overlap a little, the one on the social credit system, the one on social media and discussion, @Mercerthread on surfing the net without giving up who you are and what makes you tick, etc. To me they all have one thing in common, the future of privacy, the individual and ownership. So I'm keen, if @misteravenis happy for me to do so, to aggregate some of that discussion here. I read and listen to a lot of this stuff and I most often link my positions to material you can reference for more information - also, because I don't want to be just another voice yelling personal opinion into the voud, I intend to back m…

I've noticed this at gas stations where they inflate the price of gas in the mornings to catch people that need to fill up on their way to work, only to drop their prices back down around 10 o'clock when the traffic rush is over. Now Wendy's wants in on the action? https://www.foodandwine.com/wendys-introducing-dynamic-pricing-8600506

Voluntaryism: Simply put, voluntaryism is the belief that all human interactions should be voluntary. Interactions that aren't voluntary on the part of both, or all participants violate the non-aggression principal, thus are invalid and fall under coercion. The rules are simple, people are 100% in charge of their own bodies, period, to do with them as they see fit, and their property is an extension of this concept of ownership. The only valid reason to ever violate this rule, is if the person in question has violated the bodily autonomy, or property rights of another. Even in extreme cases, where violating someone's ownership rights over their bod…

Whatever Elon is considering paying, it's totally worth it just to watch right wing Twitter pretend they're libertarians & for free markets again. Like they weren't tweeting support for the government to disregard individual property rights less than a month ago so the government they hate can micromanage social media policy. Almost as hypocritical as supporting trade wars & taxing/tariffs under Trump, then admitting the Russian sanctions won't work, and only hurt both sides economically. Literally trying to blame Biden for gas prices the moment he was elected after they started a trade war. Pretending to hate inflation now, but not a peep under Trump …

For those that haven't heard yet, on the premier episode of his show, John Oliver offered to pay 1 million dollars a year to Clarence Thomas to step down from the supreme court. Is he gonna do it? I don't think he really wants the job and I don't think all of his free gifts total a million a year anyway.

A convo with a buddy of mine during a game of pool kinda opened me up to these philosophies. He was telling me about how he subscribes to stoicism and he recommended Marcus Aurelius’ book, Meditations, to me. I got it but haven’t cracked it open yet, about halfway though reading something else I want to finish first. What I gathered from him breaking it down for me is that stoicism is roughly the idea you don’t have control over anything but yourself and your own ethics, so that’s how you should pattern your life and that is what you should focus on? while dipping my toe into this, I came across absurdism and Albert Camus. I have a copy of The Stranger …

In the age of “fake news” and cancel culture, all packaged in a thick layer of hyper polarization and extreme political division which is amplified by memes and all carefully orchestrated and spook fed to the masses by mainstream media and social media, I thought it might be interesting to circle back, explore and connect some dots on some popular “conspiracy theory” that eventually can be shown to be conspiracy fact. Since the MSM has shown to consistently ignore when new evidence is presented that bucks the narrative and social media has remained a shit show divided along partisan lines, maybe we can have some fun on 12oz and build out a repository that helps …

Fascism is a word most people use to describe any politics they dislike. Libertarians will describe all forms of authoritarianism as "fascist", including non-fascist left wing authoritarianism. Left wing authoritarians describe all political systems that aren't leftist in nature as a "fascist". Right wing authoritarians will use the word fascist to describe authoritarianism by the left. For example, if the government tells a woman she can't get an abortion, or use birth control, that's fascism to left wingers, but it's not fascism according to right wingers. If you tell someone a vaccine is mandatory, and enforce it, now all of a sudden that's "fascist" to rig…

I am for this bill for multiple reasons. A few being the sovereignty of a nation. If this bill were not to pass then there is a good chance imminent domain over reach in the future could be a side effect devastating legal citizens even further more without any due process all in the name of national security. dirty politics in other words. In a hypothetical scenario if another country was buying up massive amounts of land and these lands have natural resources and the seller where offered enough money to sell the mineral rights with the land. Then I can see a lot of potential harm to local economies for example drilling rights tougher to acquire which in…

you guys have fallen off. i would've expected five pages of insanity here at least. i don't have any big takes here though. i think you can see a clear through line between the los angeles train break-ins, the rail strike that almost happened, and this, which is that the railroads are singularly focused on cutting their operating costs to find stock buybacks. nothing else explains how cheap the american class 1 railroad is... nothing. even in painting freight graffiti, yards around me are lower stakes. workers don't care like they used to. more trespassing by random people, more junk on the tracks.
